Lol, all sounds very exciting. I'm happy playing Q3 with my Samsung 2232 GW ("2 ms" 22"). As I'm not so competitive anymore. Quite frankly I think the whole CRT thing vs LCD is a bit overdebated. I think the small form factor and lack of flicker more than makes up for the small amount of ghosting. But if I was playing Q3 professionally I definately would use a CRT.

I don't blame you. Sometimes I wish I played for fun, so I could get a super nice 22 inch widescreen monitor. But, alas, I am too competitive.

I just got a Samsung 226BW (22" widescreen) a few weeks ago and I'm pretty pleased with mine. It's 2ms so it doesn't ghost at all, but the 60hz is still kinda annoying. I'm getting used to it, but you can't beat 120hz. About my only real gripe is that I'm having difficulty tracking with hitscan weapons (most notably lg). Other than that, no issues.

try using cg_xerpclient 1 along with cg_nudge -10, bind it to shaft only

i'm totally used to my 22" widescreen lcd now. Funny thing is, even though I'm totally happy playing on it, once in a while I'll be in a situation where I'm playing on a CRT and it feels so fucking amazing :D.

This monitor is so much better in every other way though, and I cba switching every time i want a quick game.

Yes, yes indeed. I love this monitor for everything else and having q3 in widescreen now is actually pretty cool. I just can't wait until more games take advantage of widescreens.

I don't know about you, but I'm still having some issues with lg. It's kind of annoying.

The way I test my consistency is to go play a 100.rat bot on dm6. My average used to be around 55% with 63% being the high end and 48% being low end. Now my avg is around 48%. I didn't think halving the refresh rate on an LCD would make that much difference, but damn.

That's exactly how I feel about it. For fast FPS CRT is still untouchable. Outright untouchable. BUT, when it comes to the other 99% of my computer usage, the 22" widescreen is better.

lol, I have one of these at home. Refresh rates are weak, 120hz@800x600, 100@1024x768, 75@1280x1024 60hz@1600x1200. And after 5.5 years the screen went out of focus so you can't read any font smaller than 12 at it's native (1280x960 imo) resolution. Best thing that monitor had going for it was looks.

Now that you say it mine is looking a bit blurry. You don't notice it when gaming at all but when browsing. But what I would do, I can't buy another 19" CRT nowadays without searching the whole internets for a second one hand.

Btw, refresh rates are enought imo, since I play mode 4 800x600@120hz is safe, specially if you play at tournaments where monitors wouldn't go beyond those refresh rates. I would greatly appreciate 120hz at 1024 for my desktop tho, but I don't want anything beyond 19" on a CRT, my desktop (the real one) wouldn't handle those huge asses.

Yeah it's not a gaming problem but a text reading problem. That 19" one is my dad's now He's old so uses 800x600 on desktop anyhow.

19" is probably the best size of CRT monitor. When you move up to 21" you can't play as well at low fov's as there's too much space to take in. Basically problems of having to see and shoot something that's small on screen are less than the problem of not being able to see the corners quite as clearly on 21".

Someone's probably going to flame me and ask if I failed my vision tests to drive. My vision's fine just 21" is a little bigger than I can take in and see clearly all at once. The quality and typically higher performance electronics inside 21" tubes more than makes up for that small drawback.

Ebay is the way brother. I got this CRT for 80 dollars including free shipping from a nice seller. It came as seller said: perfect screen with some marks on the bezel and some other marks and cosmetic issues on the sides and back. Overall these old beasts rock and are by far the best way under 500 dollars to be looking at anything on a PC. Period.

I didn't think mine would handle a 21" that weighs almost 30kg. Surprisingly it easily does. I even did some duel monitor with the 21" and an old but nice 17" dell one from 1999.

I do miss it though - on my 22 LCD it just doesnt feel as smooth as on the FW900.

When I had both I would watch a demo on the LCD and think it looked good, then if I watched a demo on the CRT I'd be like 'how f**ing smooth is that !... '

The only LCD I would consider getting for gaming would be the Iiyama 22". If I'm going to get an LCD though it should at least support a res of 1920x1200.

i had a crt but i never had it at 120 hz so going to 2ms samsung lcd was okay. And it looks the business. All the new games like crysis and cod4 look amazing on widescreen

and my aim is just as good. if not better thanks to the mighty xerp.
