The ESWC Organizing Committee has decided to remove the value restriction on three game settings in Quake 3 Regulation.
The ESWC Organizing Committee has decided to remove three restrictions regarding the client settings.
The following commands are now not enforced with a default value anymore:
cg_xerclients, cg_laghax, cg_nudge (except in LAN for this last one).
These changes have been decided to come closer to the desired LAN gameplay particularly for online play. No specific values have been forced because of the inability to technically or humanly proceed to a reliable enforcement. However, by not enforcing any value, we leave the flexibility to the players to choose the most appropriate values for the desired LAN gameplay.
The game settings value are now as followed:
- Cl_maxpackets must be set at 125 (only on LAN)
- Rate must be set at 25000 (only on LAN)
- Snaps must be set at 30 (only on LAN)
- R_lodcurveerror must remain at 250
- Cl_timenudge must remain at 0 (only on LAN)
- Cg_nudge must remain at 0 (only on LAN)
- Cg_optimiseBW must remain at 0
- Ch_thirdperson must remain at default
- Handicap must remain at 100
- Pmoved_fixed must remain at default (0)
- R_picmip equal or inferior to 5
