I like QTracker, because of its similarites to ASE. But there are plenty of other server-browser out there, which are good as well.

Qtracker doesn't seem to recognize servers running CNQ3 unfortunately. Seems very good otherwise

hmm, I haven't noticed that. I'll try to fiddle around a bit with that tool when I'm back from work.

I made a post about this issue in the qtracker forum. It seems there was indeed some glitch in the code which made the CNQ3 servers turn up as q2 servers. This issue will be fixed in the next qtracker release.

I don't know the time of the release, sorry. Registered users receive updates every few weeks or so but there's no schedule for the public releases. "You get it, when you get it." Or something along those lines.

Registered update went out today, but it's only alpha so might take some time.

They were showing up as Q2 servers, but issue has been fixed in the browser since 4.8 Alpha 2 (May 27). He mentioned something about having to change some stuff on the QTracker masters as well, but not sure if he has done that yet because of compatability with the release available to unregistered users (4.71). Only found 66 CNQ3 servers when I looked for them with 4.8 alpha 2 today, not sure how many there really are. Don't know the timetable for the release to unregistered users, but most likely will go through a beta before that happens.

Have custom filters for Q4, but they aren't hosted any place atm. Filters are easy to make though.

do u know how to make a filter so i can find OSP CA promode servers?

Just find one in the browser and in the server properties window right click the g_gametype, make it equal the CA game number in "logic" pane and you have a CA filter. Don't know which number is CA. Filter for mod is gamename (mod directory), just do the same there. Making filters in QTracker is quite easy.

ASE for Q3 / Q2 / COD series was actually great, gonna miss it :-F

I've always just used Qtracker, never liked ASE as much. I can find a game in any of the 4 Quakes, Crysis, Doom, and a few others that slip my mind atm, anytime day or night.

Yea i noticed this last night, I was wondering why it said it couldn't connect to scanner...It was still able to ping the servers in my list though, but I guess it won't be pickup up any new ones :(

ASE + qxmon import + custom filters is still the more accurate browser for me in terms of ping.

wanna know why? Because OSP is pretty braindead, and the server admins are chosing to configure it this way.

osp_gamename <0|1> // Allows OSP to run as "baseq3" for UI server browser filtering.

Change this option, and of course it'll show as OSP in the "gamename" field.

Some servers are also configured to not even have an OSP folder, but instead dump the OSP files in the baseq3 folder.

Its crazy that the mod provides an option to pretend its baseq3 (especially as it'll want / need to dl the client portion), and its braindead of the server admins to use it this way.
