Not this again. Where's Kurt "Immortal" Shimada?
Laugh.
Just woke up and got 635 characters per minute with two wrong words. I hate these tests and how they handle errors, because I always fuck up going back and it slows me down. And the fact that these aren't real sentences throws me off, because I try to read ahead and my mind goes "WTF does that mean" and sometimes I try to "correct" the sentence instead of typing what's written.
Also, the fact that you have to hit enter at the end of the bar is startling. Meh. I ought to be able to get 700+ after I wake up a bit.
120 isn't much. I'm the guy who gut 635 above (amounts to about 127 wpm). got 670 on my second try, but haven't tried again. I should be able to get 750 or so; will try later.
You type 566 characters per minute
You have 105 correct words and
you have 5 wrong words
The fingers can definitely move much faster, it's just a matter of knowing which words are coming. A real typing test is much less forgiving, a lot more punctuation and they penalize 5wpm for every error.
225 would have to be VERY shorthand, with no real punctuation. The world record is 212wpm (at max, with an average of 170wpm) with proper punctuation and capitalization, and that was using Dvorak layout.
Hm, why penalize more than the words affected when making errors? Makes no sense.. Or simply make you write the word again plus giving you that word wrong.
people bashing technique are hilarious!!!1 I mostly type with two fingers, and they're usually offset from the home row keys, but I still got 700 (or 140 wpm roughly, though the test claims 127) on my second try; no one here seems to have come very close yet.
I do know how to type properly, with perfect technique, too. but why would that matter? it's all about what's comfortable for you (well, unless you want to take ergonomics into account, I guess, and then you'd be using DVORAK). I don't use DVORAK, either, but if I learned it I'm sure I'd get 170-200WPM pretty quickly, since I can get nearly 150 on QWERTY. anyway, it's sort of like brazilian jiu jitsu: who cares how your form is if you can execute? it's about the results.
this keyboard is shit, but I should still be able to get 750. just took it and got:
You type 700 characters per minute
You have 127 correct words and
you have 0 wrong words
with my half-assed, not-using-all-fingers, not-using-home-row-keys-properly QWERTY typing method. I need a challenger!!
a screenshot? ZOMG like that can't be faked. anyway, what's the big deal? it's just typing, and not even that fast. in normal conversation, I type a hell of a lot faster, because I don't have to think about ridiculous, out of order words that make no sense.
[ur=http://www.99years.com/~daryl/images/Screenshot.png]ok, anyway[/url], but I should have 750 soon.
