How do you connect to the server? Do you use an external serverbrowser? If so, which one?

Very Rarely i use X-fire but mostly just the games browser

You should make sure that you switch to the right mod before you connect - eg, if you're playing on q4max servers and are going to use the ingame browser, then make sure that you are using LaunchQ4Max.exe.

When using x-fire, make sure you have the +set fs_game q4max in the commandline.

Probably the reason you're seeing it is because you're getting a double-pure reload when connecting to the server due to it switching fs_game. I cant believe servers actually have 128 pk4's actually on it.

A lot of freezetag servers have a ton of maps on it. So you can actually cruise 7 servers and have your paks exceed. It does limit the servers you can visit if you have a few that you like.

The constant is not total number of pk4's, its the total number of referenced pk4's *at once* in a pure environment.

AFAIK the only cause of this is you either spawning a server locally, or possibly temporarily while connecting when it does a pure restart to pickup the modified fs_game, before it picks up the pure list from the server.
