people play but you have to get on irc really and ask for games, expecting people to be sitting on servers is too much of a pain in the arse

i don't know how the situation actually in america is but here over in europe/germany you can just join a server and wait for your opponent, it won't take to long ;)

there are 20~ players in q3 who play it seriously.
others just whine on esr and nor they played q3 nor they will play it.
at least they make it seem q3 community is big...

it is kind of sad that trolling esr is actually more fun than playing quake

i have yet to figure out if this reflects well on esr or poorly on quake

My background consistst of having played PK for a while, not at a high level, and then training with some skilled players in Quake 4, but lately I really got into CPMA and can't believe I missed out on this great game earlier.

It's sad though because these great games seem to RARELY have anyone actually playing them. Is the entire PC scene dead too? I ask this because I used to be a very avid PC gamer, but switched over to console (ive always been a console gamer too, but played both PC and console) on the Xbox 360, but now it's just pure crap. Maybe one to two games are good on the Xbox, the classic Halo Combat Evolved, and then Shadowrun. Everything else that gets produced by these lame ass devs is nothing more than noobie casual crap.

What's the main means of competition these days with the dueling scene? And sorry if I don't know acronyms. I'm still a CPMA noob.

Can't really remember Vo0 being a top10 player in VQ3 gametype which is what most lan tournaments use. If I recall correctly he was never a real threat to win the Q4 tourneys either when all the best players were in attendance. Vo0 was good at PK and the CPM gametype in the CPMA mod for Q3, not the original Q3 gameplay. For most it didn't matter much that Vo0 "came back" to the Quake scene since he was never one of the top10 players in the gametype he is going to play.

In the latest CPMA update I don't pick up many servers in HLSW GamerSearch. Anyone know a game browser that picks up all servers like HLSW did before?

Many people are excegerating here.

By just idling on servers/joining servers with players you can get around 5-10 duels per day, but yes you might have to wait for a bit.
