On USB 1.0 overclocking was pushing it for what the system was designed to be able to handle and it could damage things. Any reasonably modern computer should have USB 2.0 which can easily handle overclocking up to 1000 Hz.

So this does not affect any other USB device on the system then? Is it just overclocking the USB port that your mouse is on or is it overclocking all ports?

Depends on how you overclock it. You can overclock the port and everything will be at 1000 Hz or whatever, or you can use something like the hidusb program that's linked somewhere on these forums and selectively overclock individual bits of hardware.

ive been playing with an intellimouse 1.1 for a few years, and had just gotten used to quake looking/feel choppy
perfect 125fps, no pb, but still chopped when i looked around
heard about this usb oc, decided to give it a try
500hz fixed it, q3 looks/feels smooth as butter when i look around now
so weird

I think mouses like the WMO are quite useless without 500hz. 125hz feels so unsmooth. Imo all tournaments nowadays allow that (fox does that everywhere with the 1.1a).

I overclock all usb(2.0) ports@500hz and I haven't had any problems with any peripherials: ipod, external hdd, printer.

I used usbrate.exe, did that overclocked all USB ports to 500hz, or just the mouse one?

Also, how do you know the actual hz of all your USB ports?

Get the "Sujoy one" tbh, you can overclock the mouse usb port only and, nice feature, you don't need to reboot.

I used to use usbrate for years and it works fine but I prefer hidusbf.
