Dutch e-Sport Association (E-Sportbond) 'founding father' International e-Sport Federation

In a recent symposium in South Korea all leading national e-Sport organizations, being South Korea, Taiwan, Vietnam, Austria, Germany, Belgium, Switzerland, Denmark and the Netherlands, came together to sign a letter of intent to establish the International e-Sport Federation (IeSF). Jasper Schoo, chairman of the Dutch E-sportbond, was accompanied by Eric Luijpers of the NOC*NSF (Dutch Olympic Committee).

The main goals of the IeSF are to bundle the power and experience of the different organizations to stimulate the growth and quality of e-Sports and improve acceptation. In November the IeSF will be formally established in Seoul, Korea, and will be accompanied by a big e-Sport event.

Jasper Schoo, chairman of the E-sportbond: “I’m proud that the E-sportbond is among these powerful e-Sport organizations and can participate in the IeSF. This offers us opportunities as E-sportbond to stay internationally involved with the growth of e-Sports”.

Eric Luijpers, Senior account manager at NOC*NSF: “During the symposium and exceptional finals of the event with thousands of spectators in South Korea it is clear what chances e-Sports have to offer. The founding of the IeSF is a good development for e-Sports in the Netherlands. Besides the fact that thousands of people playing games in the countries of the present organizations, e-Sports can be put to use for different goals like in London to keep youngsters off the streets. Transferring knowledge and experience between these countries through the international federation is guaranteed”.

E-Sportbond 'founding father' International e-Sport Federation

Tijdens een recente bijeenkomst in Zuid Korea van de meest toonaangevende nationale e-Sport organisaties, zijnde Zuid Korea, Taiwan, Vietnam, Oostenrijk, Duitsland, Belgie, Zwitserland, Denemarken en Nederland, hebben deze 'founding fathers' tezamen een intentieverklaring ondertekend om de International e-Sport Federation (IeSF) op te richten. Jasper Schoo, voorzitter E-sportbond, werd hierbij vergezeld door Eric Luijpers van het NOC*NSF.

De IeSF heeft als doelstelling om de krachten en ervaringen van de diverse organisaties te bundelen en derhalve de groei en kwaliteit van E-sport te vergroten en een betere acceptatie van e-Sport te bewerkstelligen. In november zal in Seoul de formele oprichting van de IeSF plaatsvinden wat tevens gekoppeld zal zijn aan een e-Sport evenement.

Jasper Schoo, voorzitter E-sportbond: 'Ik ben ontzettend trots dat de E-sportbond tussen deze e-Sport grootmachten deel uitmaakt van dit initiatief. Dit biedt ons als E-sportbond enorme mogelijkheden om ook internationaal betrokken te blijven bij de ontwikkeling van e-Sport.'

Eric Luijpers, Senior accountmanager NOC*NSF: 'Tijdens het symposium en een uitzonderlijke finale-evenement met duizenden toeschouwers in Zuid Korea, is mij duidelijk geworden welke kansen de e-Sport allemaal biedt. De oprichting van de IeSF is een goede ontwikkeling voor de e-Sport in Nederland. Naast dat honderd duizenden jongeren gamen in de verschillende aanwezige landen wordt de e-Sport ook veel als middel voor ander doeleinden ingezet, bijvoorbeeld om jongeren in Londen van de straat te krijgen. Uitwisseling van kennis en ervaring tussen de verschillende landen is via deze internationale federatie gewaarborgd.'
