Can somebody tell what are the main advantages of browser integrated game like this then?
All that matchmaking things and other stuff are surely great, but does that really require a browser implementation?

sure, the idea behind QL is to play it from anywhere with YOUR settings (config) - as easy as possible.

But since it wasn't a game solely built as a browser game it doesn't run on port 80, unfortunately.

afaik you can't play other "port"-games like CS 'n stuff in a closed network, if the ports aren't left open/forwarded.

flash or java http quake (on :80) would be highly appreciated then =D

I can play whenever I want at school, there's no such rules, the problem is I can only extract files - so say can't play games without proper installation or simply play browser games, I definitelly can't manually open any ports obviously =D You'd prolly be right about the work tho =]]

Ok man, tried it at school. There was no way I could install the plugins into the system, Firefox plugin nor IE, it still displayed some quotes about the writing failures. Basically it was what I expected.

Oh I thought you could install the plugin.

Perhaps you can copy your qlive dir from home and bring it in on USB, copy it over to C:. Might get around permissions.

i have similar problem - i cant play QL with proxy server enabled in browser

I guess that's because of most proxy-servers don't have ports such as the quake one enabled. But I really don't know.

I've not played QL enough or analyzed its traffic to be 1000000% sure, but it pretty much uses Q3 as it is, and Q3 doesn't require you to "forward" anything. You only need to be able to reach outbound 27960/udp, unless you are running a server.
