On a more serious note, Matt is probably one of the only person left in e-sports that actually cares about the people that make ESWC such a success, the players.

All other leagues are buying into games, or big media deals, and as a result, not satisfying the gamers at all.

Look at WSVG (Fight Night? WoW?), and WCG (Cell phone games? Random Chinese MMO games?)

Every league is being destroyed because of money.

I hope I have a chance to meet Matt and talk to him, and thank him for what he's doing. I'm not in love with him because he's using Quake in ESWC, I'm just really happy he knows what is a good competitive game, what isn't, what the communities want, and what they don't. He wants SF4, not DOA4. He wants Trackmania, not some shitty PGR4 game. He wants 1.6, not Source. He wants Q3, no UT3.

I hope you keep ESWC running and live, and keep doing what you're doing. ESWC is the ONLY league that we can 100% depend on and trust.

EDIT: I think I'm too harsh when I say that Matt is the only on in E-sports that cares about the community and players. Sure, there are many more people who do care, who do run events, but as it stands now, ESWC is the only league that involves North America that cares about what we want to play, not how much companies are willing to pay them for their game to be in the league *Cough* WCG *Cough*

People should stop saying 'person' is probably (one of) the only people left in e-sports that actually care about the people blabla.

There are a LOT of people trying to help e-sports, and a LOT of people actually doing so, they deserve some respect and credit wich you are not giving.

plenty of others are doing just that and have been for a while, just because they're not satisfying the pretentious, pompous cunts that is known as the hardcore community doesn't mean they're not catering to the other people (the ones that make up the numbers, the actual part that matters).

You honestly think WCG chose games like Carom 3D, random chinese MMO game, and a mobile phone game, just because they liked them?

i actually felt like carom wasn't half bad. relaxing casual game and it takes some skill to play.

Why have businesses similar to yours failed or struggled in recent years?

With all the respect I have for people that try to do things, maybe some of them didn't play hard enough to go pro, others mixed up guitars and rails, others considered e-sport just as business. E-sport shall remain an ideal.
