our very own dictator, Ceausescu, went funny in the head after visiting North Korea and seeing everyone aligned and obedient.

he was inspired by the NK "Dream" of self-reliance and population control, so he put everything on export to pay the national debt. this of course led to shortage of everything from basic aliments, toilet paper, toothpicks to TV programs and western media.

he even copied their architecture and political secret service..

before this "social revolution" things were pretty good.. standard of living was considerably better than it is now.

ironically, when he finally paid the national debt the sweep of change hit the Eastern block and he was executed. i always wonder what he would've done after we were debt free.. prolly more megalomaniacal shit with little relaxing towards the working class.

there's a striking contrast even in the DMZ, even when i'm sure the NK soldiers are well fed not to look bad.. don't they just see the tourists? i wonder if something like this even occurs to them:

"shit man.. the outside world has nothing better to do than visit this thing? we were told they live a lot worse than us and that we are so great.. but they have all kind of gadgets, look very well dressed and fed.. it's surely not a staged thing to distract us with since they're pouring every year from all corners of the world.. wtf?"

aquashark, NK is the most successful totalitarian dictatorship ever. Im pretty sure that if anyone tried to topple the 'dear leader' he would have a popular revolt on his hands. Thats why noone dares do anything about it, likely hood is, the 'regime change' would land another psycho in power. The people know nothing, have nothing etc. Theres no way to influence the people either as there is no political activity over there. Sadly, i think that only the NK people can liberate themselves now.
