why couldnt u do a q4max public server? then i might have played on it then..

If you want to play on a Q4max server you can download IRC connect to Quakenet and then join the channel #spontan.games. Here we host a number of pickup servers all having Q4Max.

The reason for the Q4Base server is cause of few other servers for those who still play Q4Base. There existed a few servers for a while for Q4Base CTF, but lately some of them have died out. So it's put up to give players another server to play on instead of just leaving the game.

there is no one, q4base players won't switch to q4max anyway..

and for sure not, if there is a new q4base server up and running.

captain obvious here : q4base servers are great to be able to play without having to download a mod (autodownload doesn't work with mods, nope ?)

Q4 has a stable player base + a few newbies here and there
Q4 has at least 1 awesome mod which is still supported
Q4 has some tournaments going on.

Personally i don't care if you can't make any money out of q4 anymore. As long i can attend some local LAN's and play some couple duels every day, i don' mind.
