wait for windows 7?

I'm not putting Linux on my machine until 7 comes out. That's just retarded. I want to run some VMs yes, but I'd also like to play some games without having to emulate.

i'm using cpl mouse fix with a razer salmosa. 32 bit though. vista doesn't suck anymore, just needs sp1 and some tweaks.

The cpl mouse fix works on vista? Vista still sucks btw, it just doesn't suck quite as much especially when you have tons of hardware behind it.

it seems to, it has the same acceleration curve as xp in the registry. however i didnt like the feel of it with logitech mice but seems ok on the salmosa. im not sure why this is.

deathadder drivers alone completely remove accel for me

Only problem is that I'm using a G3.

point is, can't see why deathadder drivers remove it all @ vista, but not at xp

maybe try just turning accel off at logiteh setpoint?

I don't use setpoint though and I really don't want to if I can avoid it. What I don't understand is why both XP and Vista still have this crap and why they haven't fixed it yet.

I did, but then I switched back. There was just something odd about the shape of the salmosa that I couldn't quite get used to.

i recall something about a certain version of anir's fix working for vista... search on this forum

there's only anir's cursor acceleration fix that works on vista and it's not very good imo (its not the same as his accelfix.exe). and that iQ vista fix is a joke, its the same thing as cpl mouse fix.

I don't understand how you can favour accelfix.exe, but also disparage WCAFIX.

WCAFIX modifies the loaded image's memory, whereas accelfix.exe alters the image on disk, but beyond that, they're effectively identical, i.e., once done, the patched code is completely the same.

It just feels worse, there is a noticeable delay for me and it doesn't feel smooth like the .exe patch. although i have tested it in older non direct input games, maybe that has something to do with it. are you aion btw?
Edit: Ok, it works fine now after I disabled Threaded optimization in my Nvidia settings. Sorry for the confusion.

I have vista hp 64 with sp1 and I've had the cpl mouse fix for about 2 years now; it has always worked on my xp sp2 laptop and desktop. Recently I noticed it just stopped working by itself on my desktop, so I thought it could have been a windows update. However I went and checked on my laptop which had windows update disabled for 4 years and it stopped working randomly too. I reformatted my desktop and installed the mouse fix right away to no avail. Now it just doesn't seem to work properly at all. I have tried wcafix and it actually produces the same result as the cpl mouse fix, which is slightly less acceleration and a strange upward accel when i shake my mouse. Can anyone help plz?
