yeah the youtube vid looks like poor fps but the poster said on the n95 8gb he gets 60fps ?

on youtube its basic n95; the 8gb version is more powerfull

it works on my n82 but it's unplayable on phone keyboard :)

But it can be good to watching demos on boring lectures or on the way to work/school. Did you try watching GTV? :D

Didn't work, cpma only loadet the media, not the binary. [cpma-load.txt]

At the moment it looks like they're using vm_* 0. vm_* 2 (default) is very unlikely to work as they wont have written the JIT for ARM, but its possible that 1 will work (interpreted).

Odd error, dunno quite what thats about.

Framerate drop is to be expected - dll vs interpreted qvm is always going to be bad on a slow CPU device. JIT compiled could maybe compare, but I doubt they'll get the JIT compiler working for ARM unless someone has done it for some other q3 port.

ARM = a common processor architecture in embedded computers - including the one in your phone, judging by the filenames of the dll's

QVM = Quake Virtual Machine (files) - Q3 mods are built using this to make them platform independent, rather than having to build a dll for Windows, a .so for linux, a bundled .so for macosx etc like you do for Q2 / Q4.

JIT Compiler = "Just In Time Compiler". Q3 can either interpret the QVMs as it is running, or it can compile it to native machinecode before the game starts to improve speed dramatically compared to interpreted. The code for this is seriously scary and requires pretty detailed knowledge of the CPU (Carmack wrote the intel x86 implementation, judging by his .plan's from 1998/99).

With vm_* 0, it is using natively compiled dll's instead of the qvm's, hence why performance is better, but also why it doesn't include the cpma gamecode. You could also get better performance if you could convince arQon to compile CPMA for the ARM cpu (doubtful unless he has an ARM based PC).

Every time I look through the righthand side of the site for something to look at and see this headline, I think the same thing.
If you're at work or school then you should check out how well the Sybian plays Quake3 :D

While Quake 3 on a phone is very impressive I’d be more impressed if they could get a non-beta release of Quake 3 in a browser. I suspect we’ll see Q3 on a wrist watch before then and the wrist watch version will probably attract more players.

No, unlike the N95 8gb the N96 isnt powerful enough.

I wonder you can play bidforpower mod for quake 3, if so please let know. I can play q3a on my e90, it works excellent, but if i load bid for power mod the application closes.
