DRz robbed me of a mousepad :( almost shit myself at the end of dm6!
it was pretty funny at the end, cause the cs 1.6 finals were right after this, so the spectator stands were really packed with cs kiddies getting nausious from the speed of qw.
Seriously, fuck off. It blows my mind that it's not even possible to browse through the demos of a quake LAN competition that probably only happened thanks to the popularity of the other games at the LAN (CS in particular) without coming across retarded comments like these two.
Hey, I know it was meant as a joke. But dubcat's comment was much more serious, and it's very annoying to read constant bashing of CS on this site when the CS players themselves have nothing against Quake players or Quake as a game. The spectators probably enjoyed watching qw, but this guy has to go back to his computer, go online and criticize them because they play CS. Way to be a fucking frustrated douchebag. Your joke (which is HILARIOUS by the way, and VERY original/innovative) didn't help.
Ofcourse they don't have anything against a game that is obviously better, and ofcourse we are frustrated to see a game get more attention though it obviously needs less skill to be good in.
I don't want to get into a debate about which game is better, but the point is that he could have been happy to see CS players get a look at how entertaining quakeworld or other quake games can be. I wouldn't be surprised if some people tried quake after the lan because they found it nice to follow. I know I personally try to convince as many ppl to try quake 3 because it's really easy to install. But no, he has to be a dick instead of being happy of seeing a quake tournament happen thanks to cs and seeing quake showcased to a big number of spectators that could potentially start playing. I find that attitude pathetic.
if you're not, you must be really thick to take my post so seriously.
for the record, the majority of the spectators were kids and I heard more than one of them actually saying qw looked too fast and whining about them not beeing able to follow what was going on. and I do think most gamers have played quake, even casual ones. I don't know of more than a few who hasn't, even though they don't follow the game or played anything more competetive than ffa or tdm with their mates.
You over-reacted initially, but this post (post edit, apparently) is quite decent. I certainly hold Quake in a much higher regard than any other video game series whatsoever, but I still appreciate all skill based games, CS included.
its like they've already said, such a pity the most followed game is the one that requires the least skill.. but mainstream has always been lol, not just in gaming.
thanks for the links, just dled everything and watched the demos
- 2on2 on hub is lol
- qw + quad + shaft = a lot of fun
- dm2 is boring
- ztn is really small in qw##
p.s.: only took me about 2mins to get everything i needed, awesome
