I played it for a while. It's really good. But this game isn't suited for mavericks. I really liked to role of the commander, beeing able to play this game like an RTS game while commanding the other players (playing as FPS or RPG) around like in Warcraft :)

btw, this one reminds me on Warlord, released earlier this month. Originally just a Quake 3 mod, now a full retail game.

For people wondering what the hell it is, it really is a combination of FPS, RTS, and RPG.

The FPS is basically your fighting. In games like WoW, you just do special attacks, wait, and do a different one. In this, it's more like a fighting game. You can do three different attacks, block, attack, and evade (I think that's the third one). It's basically a rock-paper-scissors scenario, except, you can do whatever you want, whenever. You're not limited to cool-down times, and other crap. It's like a fighting game. Moving around and flanking, positioning, movement, are actually important (Unlike WoW).

The RTS section comes in when the game starts. Think of you being a unit in SC. That's what you are. One person is a commander, and can build other buildings, much like an RTS. The objective is to destroy the other teams main building. So, the other players work on destroying the other players, and destroying buildings.

The RPG section comes in when...well, it's like an MMO. There you go.

When I figure out this mouse lag and have some time next weekend I'll play it some more. Beats shitty PvP and Arena in WoW.

all those things are very important in WoW, especially if you're playing a ranged character like a mage. you only stand and repeatedly press buttons in PVE, not PVP.

You're right, but, I think this puts more emphasis on movement and positioning, and is more needed compared to WoW. Although, I haven't played top level PvP yet (Will soon!), my opinion still stands =)

let's see. i've played WoW PVP so i know that there is some degree of skill required. it's not as easy as people make it out to be... just very boring after a couple of games. i'm downloading this... hopefully it's good... but where do you play? do you join a server or something or is there some kinda single player element to try out first?

Do the tutorial first. It helps a lot, teaches you pretty much everything. I haven't finished it though, won't have time to finish it until the end of the week.

And I know there's skill involved in WoW PvP, but I think people make it out to be some super difficult competitive game. Compared to Quake 1v1, it's nothing.

No offense of course. I know it takes skill, but, there's too much luck/chance/randomness to make it 100% skillful.

dunno i actually find games like WoW and Warcraft harder to play than FPS games. i'm decent at dota now but that came after years of playing. i don't have a natural affinity to RTS or RPG games.

Honestly, people make Q3 out to be far more difficult than it really is. It doesn't take a rocket scientist to time items and aim properly. Generalization fails.

As stated, positioning and coordination in WoW (5v5) is probably 80% of the fight. You should probably give it a fair evaluation instead of just basing your opinions on what the fail tournament organizers have given you to watch. 3v3 is really a horrible way to do arena, but it's popular because almost anyone can be lucky enough to score some points and get gear. The people who play 3v3 want the "cool" armor to sit around in the city and look flashy, instead of actually being interested in competition. With some good tweaking, and a removal of 2v2 and 3v3, WoW could actually be a very good tournament game.

Savage might look cool, but wait until the new game smell wears off and see if you're still playing it.

The "new game smell" I was talking about was that it was new to him.

Turn off CAMERA SMOOTHING (mouse filter) in options and you should not suffer anymore mouse problems.

I played this game for a month or two a while back. Much fun. Only stopped playing due to the playerbase being really small and the servers being a little unstable. Maybe it's time to give it another go.

I really like Savage 1, this is such a great game, a perfect rts/fps combo, but S2 is imho not as fun as the 1, at least when I tried the demo.
I should try again.

this is not an MMO in any sense. The only relevance it has to mmos is the RPG factor of assigning attributes and using items. There are no persistent levels and the game plays in separate matches which last 30 minutes to 1 hour+

I would only be interested in the FPS element of this but I still haven't found it appealing enough to download.

It sounds cool, and it looks fun when you start, but it gets old fast.

Even though I lost like every game I've played so far, I still think it is quite fun. I don't like MMOs at all, but I like some Action RPGs so this is right up my alley. The combat is fast paced and team oriented as well. I've had some pretty cool skirmish stand offs with like 10 guys charging 10 others in a huge brawl, good fun.

this game is so good that I actually bought it a few months ago. Awesome.

the only reason I never played savage 2 is because I dont like download-only games. I want a disc. that way if anything goes wrong I know i can just reinstall with no problems.

Im gonna give this a try though. I cant play Q3 anymore because of the huge amount of cheaters ruining the game these days (that nobody admits seeing or they do nothing about even if they do), and it seems id is refusing to release quake live...so >_<
