he's probably set his mind on it already, but coming from someone that's worked in and around aeronautics for the past 8 years, i wish he'd change his mind. one isn't afforded opportunities to make mistakes in that career field. the vast majority of the atc's i've known ended up miserable or a bit insane, if not both.

in any event, i wish him good fortune and stability.

I doubt reflexes etc. is a factor when it comes to "young vs older" players. Motivation is a huge factory – young players are hungry to show off and win, while the older guys have already won – and they usually have more time on their hands.

studies show that in men, reflexes peak at around 38
but having fewer responsibilities like not having a job, only school, not owning a house, etc.
those things can attribute to higher motivation

You can actually see the times of disjunctive RT is lowest at 30 (which would explain your 38), but I think simple RT is what applies to playing a FPS.
