the cq3 scene seems pretty active

This mappool is strange.

We're going with this set of maps as they are most familiar with the majority of quake players, both casual and competitive. ospdm6 is the only map that might be a learning experience for anyone truly new to Quake TDM.

And before people ask CQ3 was chosen at this time as the changes are more inline to teamwork/teamplay. There will be an exhibition match announced soon that will help showcase the game play. I hope game play that stress teamwork and map control over raw aim will be welcomed as more NA'ers check it out. (From the sounds of it people prefer CQ3 over VQ3 in Europe for some very good reasons!)

Tomorrow, game servers will begin popping up all over the US in support of the tournament. We have 2 Chicago, 2 Dallas, 1 LA, 2 NYC and 1 ATL with more to come if needed thanks to our server sponsor, NXGS.

Yeah, it's mainly ospdm6 I was confused about, because it tradiotionally was played in 4v4, while the pool has no ospdm11 which has proven to be a well-suited map for 2v2, and no ztndm1?

ospdm6 was actually in a lot of 2v2 map pools going back over the years.

because cq3 is not an improved gameplay to resemble the old osp days which everyone seems to want back but a completely new gameplay. An improved vq3 would simply be lg 7, mg 5, rail 80 and cripple removed, thats it, no new shit hitsounds, no ramp jumps, no other plasma cells, no "improved" item sizes etc. etc.

actually beeing able to know better how much damage you do (by the different hitsounds) is good.

it's amazing you still hang out around the north american quake community considering you've been banned from pretty much every organization running any kind of tournament. if you're allowed to enter this tournament i'll be very surprised, considering your history with crashing servers, specifically GGL ones, and the people who're admins for the tournament (Syn, Alien, xterm, and Beef; all work for GGL).

however, if your interest is purely for spectating, more power to you.

problem is i've played with a logitech mouse all my life. A few months ago I bought a Logitech G5 and i'm happy with it. probably I would just test the deathadder and then say "good mouse but i'll stick to logitech anyway".

First match was played this morning, around 5am CET.
I understood Syn finally managed to fix the scheduling system, so we may see a list of the incoming matches soon.

Unfortunately people are busy and have lives (yes even on the weekends) so theres probably a good reason they spread it out across 6 weeks. But that probably never occurred to you.

Don't give me that horseshit with your stupid assumptions kid. Playing a 2v2 single elimination cup on a single day leads to less ff games than spreading it across weeks where again and again something turns up.
