back when i used icemat my laser/optics never went that low on the pad.. you must have some odd grip.. :D

What color do you use? I used to use a green icemat and had the same problem. I wonder if it happens on the black ones...

But I don't think color matters, I think the surface becomes reflective and makes the mouse(optical) not respond.

The color does matter to a certain degree. Black is the safe choice, other colors can cause problems. Razer mice with infrared sensor tracks bad on pretty much all colors that aren't black and afaik white causes even WMO 1.1 to skip (probably the least picky sensor you can get).

Icemat's tracking surface feel is unique IMO so you are out of options if you want that type of surface. Only advice I can give you is try using something on your wrist to avoid getting the sweat marks.

How is that different from what I wrote? Sweat will cause mice to skip though and some of the non-black colors do as well.

I've found different mice vary in their sensitivity to dirt and such. Which mouse are you using? MS-mice are the more forgiving kind while the razer salmosa went crazy from the slightest contamination.

It's a Microsoft. My little finger touches down a little bit onto the pad, and makes a little water mark on the right side(of mouse). Then I go to look right, and not much response from mouse. This pad is nice when it works, so I'm wondering if another pad is close to the same.
