I got my brother and his wife a global chef's knife and a water sharpener, which is actually also their late wedding gift(I was broke at that time :P).
Five years ago, a cousin died in a car accident. It was on December 23rd. Ever since, my family spends Christmas far away from bad memories. The first two years, we went to Belize. The third year, it was Mexico. This year, we went to Ecuador and the Galapagos. In Ecuador, we spent a few days in Quito and in the Andes; bird-watching mostly (I personally had an intimate encounter with an Andean Guan).
The Galapagos was great though. We spent 8 days on a boat, departing daily for snorkeling and hiking. Lots of Iguanas and Lava Lizards. We spent a night in a city there, San something or other. I met a couple Kiwi's, one was named Mick - a rugby player. We fucking rocked the shit. Unfortunately, I didn't get to see Mick again, even though we were trying to hook up with some weed. Crazy fucking time though, my prossy brother hooked up with a local girl. Then we departed.
Back on the Galapagos scene, I swam with the Galapagos Penguins, got threatened with sun-death by our wonderful French guide Nadine, and got drunk with some fine Alaskans named Ian and Babi.
I don't get actual Christmas presents (i'm the third Anti-Christ). No complaints though, these trips are far better than cheap, ineffectual presents you get from random relatives.
