Over at Frag Dominant they have conducted some extensive interviews with some of the participants of their upcoming 2v2 Quake 3 cup, with more on the way! The players share their thoughts on the tournament and their lives both inside and outside of gaming. Obviously Q3 and Quake Live feature extensively in these articles!

the interviews were decent, but asking each one of them about the ospdm6 map choice was a bit :|
actually
asking them all identical questions was a bit :|
so, in short, my thoughts are :|
Do you think Quake is dying? - Why would someone say otherwise?
Destrukt: I don't think Quake is dying. Quake 3 has been around a very long time, and has had a major event at least once a year. It has resurged time and time again as a tournament game, and I think Quake Live only reiterates that.
The only reason someone would say otherwise is just pure ignorance. Tournaments or not, the game's community has always stayed around in some form.
Am I the only one bothered by this statement?
Wouldn't the real ignorance come from the people who refuse to look at the number of Quake players, tournaments, active servers, and community size?
It's impossible to keep up with the entire Quake 3 community. There are so many more mods than just CPMA and OSP. Threewave, RA3, Urban Terror, Excessive, Freezetag, and tons more. People still play baseq3 even.
yep. rapha said Quake is dying. But in fact people said so already for the past 5 years or so. Quake will never die and there will always be some (smaller) competitions.
I'm somehow rooting for you coz I do really think that your bizzare-movement game styleis awesome. You really do move like no one else. Watching your hub games is really a pleasure.
