Me thinks choosing the right music for a movie, any kind, is very intricate. Background theme with a neutral tonal framework works best, probably without lyrics because pop, rock or metal songs are usually about a personal story of the singer. I would call a metal tune with the lyrics "KILL! KILL! KILL! DIIIEEEE!" appropriate, although it probably is utter poop to listen to without watching the movie. But a complete no-no is using songs that have absolutely nothing to do with Quake and first person shooters. Except Rick Astley.

Most of the time I don't even listen to the music and I just phase it out and listen to the in-game sound effects (Can't stand it when they aren't in it).
