Ok first i lost the function of my left arm 4 years ago in an accident

This obvioussly means i wont be able to play as u used to

Im just hoping some ppl here can give me some thoughts on setup etc

i currently use the arrow keys for forward backward move left/right
ALT for strafing sideways CTRL attacking

DEL rocket END rail

the major points its hard is getting speed so i rarely get away to regain health and armour

the other point is in order to turn left/right or aim up/down i switch as fast as i can between my keys and mouse

which means i stand still pretty often witch alot of times proves fatal

for ones with a key if you check my profile well the k/d ratio is screwed for everyone atm since last update but it was around 0,5
overall acc is 19%

well i hope some will have some pointers for me and offcourse to the trolls do what you gotta do

I'm assuming this isnt a troll thread.

hmm... If I were you I'd look into getting FPS pedals (check this thread: http://www.promode.org/forum/viewtopic.php?f=2&t=4234) although i don't know how much theyd help, seems like they just emulate keypresses so you just get 2 extra keys. I don't know if you can get analogue pedals for pc where you can lean the pedal forward to move forward or back for +back.

Also get one of those overpriced gaming mice with 12973 buttons so you can use them for weapon or other binds. If the pedals suck you can use thumb for +left, pinky for +right, pedals for +forward/back and use mousewheel to switch weaps - not optimal but much better than your current setup imo

I never played quakelive but I believe that QL console commands are the same as in Q3. You can try something like this:

bind MOUSE1 "+attack"
bind MOUSE2 "+strafe"
bind MOUSE3 "+forward"
bind MOUSE4 "weapon 8"
bind MWHEELDOWN "weapprev"
bind MWHEELUP "weapnext"

If you are moving too slow using your right mouse button, you may increase you sensitivity (set it to 100 instead of 5 for example), and decrease m_pitch and m_yaw to 0.0011.

even tho I don't know which button MOUSE4 would be, I recommend changing it's binding to "jump".
there's a demo of fatality playing vs. one his friends using only his mouse + right hand... so it's possible in some way

get a mouse with buttons on the side.

MOUSE4 "+forward"
MOUSE5 "+back"
Right Click "+jump"
Left click "+attack"
Mouse wheel to scroll thru weapons

and get some sort of pedals for left/right strafing if u want.

I played like this at a lan center(minus the pedals) beating all the noobs in FFA games. :D

id put the keyboard on the floor and use two bigger buttons like ctrl or something for strafe left/right and push those with the tumbs on my feet. attack jump forward backward all on the mouse

thats all you need

I made some config when i had broken my left hand once. I put keyboard on floor and had space for strafe rigth and ctrl,window key and alt all bind to strafe left. I had match commands bind to the F keys like ready etc. I remeber i whised i had something i could bite on to be attack or jump or something :)
Maybe you can have 2 keyboards connected up to the pc, and have one on the floor.
The best thing would been to make some some big pads like the arrows control on the left side on the ps2 controller, so when u push it forward its one button, back one and left rigth etc, with two off those for each feet u could control 8 keys.

Hello,

Mouse with extra side buttons, such as diamond back 3g from razer could be a good idea to get. ( it has 4 side buttons )

Using keyboard as a footpedal instead of those footpedals might be nice idea:

You could use ''keygroups'' as the pedals ( which could work as 6 pedals or more
right foot:

numpad 0,123456
enter and shift
del end pgdown up home insert

left foot:
space
qweasdzxc ( left side of the character keys )
nm,jkliop ( right side )

Or something similar, there is most probably better ''keygroups'' than these.

I will soon test how this funcions when you press many keys at the sametime with same command binded in the keygroups in the quake and report here.

Ok had a quick test.

There is issues with the normal keyboards when you press multiple keys at the sametime, for example:

Pressing all arrow keys at the sametime doesn't register, but if you press up and left arrow it works.

ATM I don't have a keyboard with the antighosting thing that might solve the problem.

If someone here has a razer or steelseries keyboard or similar, and is willing to help. Here is a config: http://kolde.eu/~kale/kbtest.cfg so you don't have to spend time binding buttons.

Remember to back up own config before exec'ing that then.
