The Games Mini Video Contest, sponsored by Dell, launched yesterday and further details have been announced. There are six different categories (one per game) and they are hosted by following community portals:
Update Week 1
More than 70 participants have already signed up - but only a few of them registered for the Quake 3 category. The FAQ has been updated, if you have still questions don't hesitate to ask.
Update Week 2
The number of sign ups became three-digit - over 100 movie makers have registered for the Games Mini Video Contest. Some of you will be wondering why there aren't any videos in the respective channels on own3d.tv - the answer is that the organisator have decided to make all videos available for public viewing not until the contest deadline.
On another note, own3d.tv is proud to announce that they added a HD service (720p, 2500 kbit bitrate, x264 codec).

1. Place – 250 Euro + Dell Mini 9
2. Place – 150 Euro
3. Place – 100 Euro
- Only videos that have not been published previously are eligible for contest submission. Videos submitted may not take part in any other contest activities.
- At the start or end of the video - the artist has to mention the “Games Mini Video Contest” powered by Dell Mini and the official contest URL
- The video length must be exactly 99 seconds
- Except for the contest sponsors - no other sponsors can be displayed or mentioned in the video
- Commercial marketing of any kind is prohibited
- Only recorded game sequences, e.g. from replays, can be used. Trailers, movies and music videos are not allowed
- Trailers of any kind are excluded from the contest
- Intro and outro are optional
- The minimum age for particpants in the Quake 3 category is 18 years
- The participation of teams as single contesters is allowed. The teams have to appoint an official representative for the team to participate in the contest. Only the representative is allowed to upload. The representative will receive any prizes on behalf of the team
- A single person or team is only allowed to upload and submit one video per game category
- Participants have to send an email with the subject “Video Contest Registration“ to: mini@own3d.tv
- In the email, participants should state:
-- Full Name[/b] (in case of teams: name of all team members and the name of the team)
-- Birth date[/b]
-- Postal address[/b]
-- E-Mail address[/b]
-- Telephone numbers[/b]
-- Game Category (e.g. Counter Strike 1.6)[/b]
After this email application has been confirmed by the contest organizers – the participants of the contest will receive all relevant guidelines for uploading their videos. Uploading videos without proper contest application or publishing them on other web sites will lead to automatic disqualification.
- All participants must enroll via email and upload their videos on own3d.tv until 02.27.2009 24:00 (CET) the latest
- Videos that have been uploaded after the official end of the contest are disqualified from the contest
- A dedicated Jury will select the top 9 videos for each category
- The top 9 videos of each category will be published on the corresponding partner sites. The community of the contest portals will then elect the final winners
3rd February 2009 – Launch of the contest – enrollment and uploads
27th February 2009 – End of uploads
2nd March 2009 – Jury Announcement of the 9 finalists - start of community votes
10th March 2009 – Vote analysis & winner announcements
