I suppose tournaments could try to make a few demands as to who may enter:

e.g. login must be older than ... months, player must have played more than 10 hours in the month prior to the tournament, etc.

or teams that want to sign a pro demand a login with awesome stats because it might make newbs curious and thus lead to more popularity.


But lets just see if the pros become online statswhores by themselves and actually want all their friends to see how much they own :P

The point is that if tournaments did make those demand I outlined, the players would be forced to play at least some of their practice games with their real accounts.
Same would be true when teams want to support "active" players.

Of course assuming that they play tourneys with their real nick (and ignoring the oxymoron)

well, raping newbs might be hard because of the ranking, but yes you are of course right there are ways around that.

But sponsorship might in fact be an incentive. Depends on whether the teams agree that secret strats are the way to go to win tourneys or if they want to have their players waving their tag around.

True, but demosquad is originally from http://q2scene.net/ds and now we would like to have the same in QL. :)

The demosquad will also have the best uploaders, the best rated demo and the most downloaded demo.

And btw, actually urbasek is the one who is hosting this. Me and Festival are running this and doing admin duty. :)

well, so far im kinda suprised how much demos you gathered in such a short time. not bad...
though i wonder why ppl didnt upload them to esr but waited until now to upload them on a demo only site o0

Probably because this is more a troll site than gaming site, and even if you upload a demo of good players, like yours with a1r vs draven, people are just gonna whine about how bad the game was etc, even though they would be happy to only lose with 20-1 against those players.

Dont get me wrong, this is probably my favourite site on the internets, but I hardly ever see anyone from here playing quake, I wouldnt know about the cpm crowd though but I guess they are the same when it comes to praising their gametype instead of playing it.

well, that jum8o guy entered a tourney with air-raid and draven, so we can probably whine at him later on :D

Hehe Ive got a few games against him from the ESL ladder too.. It seems the demos from demosquad are magically ending up here anyway, so I guess whoever cares on ESR will get the decent ones but the original uploader wont get flamed for uploading, maybe a win/win.

yeah and nukm "teh magician" should have a thick enough skin by now :D
