since he is still an active mapper, couldn't you just have asked him to do some changes instead of decompiling his maps without permission?

its easier to decompile map and make real example especially for me because of my bad english. and next he can take this example and make final version of map. i think its good if everybody will use gtk-radiant for their suggestions

TBH, If it was my map, I'd deny the permission just because you didn't ask before making it public. And I use to give permission for every map re-version anyone wants to make.

Well, I'm just talking about how I would react. Maybe my case is different since I do have maps that are at every map pool of their respective games. But I can guarantee you no mapper will be pleased to see his map being modified without permission.

without "blocking that one hallway above mega " there is too long corridor between room near ra and mega room which is bad even for maps without RG. and this "blocking" created good place for second YA. i reduced field of view in some other places on map but and added second teleport. its more dangerous now to go from one room to another.

you need original rota3dm1.pk3 which were used in q3revoluzzers cup. i just changed some minor geometry things. the question is "does it need such changes or not?"

rota3dm1 is a great map and I think it could be a replacement for other maps in current mappools, if some changes are made:

- stairs have to be fixed
- floor should be more plane (less "mini-stairs" and other things)
- item layout has to be redone (especially health and ammo)

i think it's big and boring map, just run all the time mega to ra... big but no clever and with no many options to made some nice frags like in hub3aeroq3.

its not about being "allowed" to do it, more like simple courtesy

id imagine that if you can go as far as offering that to these mappers they would be more than happy to let you have at it
(although i, in no way, speak on behalf of any of them)

if i will take photo copy of Mona LIsa and complete the picture with great moustache will it be not enough courtesy to Leonardo da Vinci that i didnt ask him for this?

They do care and you're wrong, ask permission before making modifications public, it's standard courtesy in the mapping community.

wow, thats very strange :) few months ago I started to remake my dm1 map.. And now I see that I exton have same idea and he did some changes. But unfortunately most of comments are about permission to make some changes and nobady is talking if the changes are better or not.

I would like to know what do you think about these 3 changes. Should I use it in my own new version?:

So, here is my first beta version. Please let me know what is better now and what was better in older version.
Especially I would like to know your opinion about my 2 new additions:
1, new entry to RG (I think that its better than new teleporter)
2, new entry to central room in 3. floor near new YA. (Its just experiment. I think that best solution of this part of map is to close this new entry and everything else keep as it is now..)

i dont like new way instead of second tele
why imo second tele better, that's because when you have big map with limited numbers of ways to go and some teleports, you need choose your way better coz if you used tele you cant go back and if it was wrong choise you will pay prise for that. for example pro-q3dm6 has no tele and many ways
to go from one point of map to another, imo that's main reason why dm6 is all about aim. the same reason why i dislike both new entries - they permit to easier escape from mega-room. the idea of second tele was to make more entrances to mega-room than exits
i prefer more closed second ya area and some other places on map. it makes GL more usefull on map and again more painful wrong way choise
compared to rota3dm1 map lacks details especially in mega room which became more light and imo does not fit sky box anymore. and now in mega room you feel like you're in box. in rota3dm1 it was feelling of open high sky which i prefer much more

you forgot to reduce amount of ammo boxes, health bubbles and armor shards, look at my last version.
