these "speed captures" should only be put on the website if they happened in a high-profile match. seeing how fast you can run and rocket jump from one end of the map to the other with no one else on it and no one to fight is fucking retarded.

When the original creator came up with the idea of the SC website, the entire focus was that "the demos are not in game demos, because I want to harvest the fastest possible runs for as many different maps possible. I think it is hard enough to enter the Top 5 in each section here at my website." Seeing as how the site had some issues for a few years, many of the times are now beatable but many are still impressive enough, for instance q3ctf2.

i actually did one back when my team [44] True Force was sponsored by OverdrivePC, and it was in one of their videos (OPC4 maybe). afterward, plenty of you lamers were trying to beat it. how bout you do it in a match for thousands of dollars, on a stage, in front of thousands of spectators, against opponents. then you can prove me wrong.

oh, another one -__- so listen up, another smartass.. speedcapture and actual ctf team frag games are two different things. speedcapture is a special gametype where you can practice yourself in fastcapping, and these skills can be used in actual frag match with enemies afterwards. also, in SC you can just jump around for fun searching for some new routes for the fastest possible run, maybe.
have i told that SC is better than ctf fragging? NO. i just said, you can try SC if you so desire...
maybe you're good at those frag matches, _2, i don't know, but you definately should keep your mouth shut about who is a lamer until you beat at least one record at speedcapture.com.

As I mentioned, I've actually established one of the records on a Q3CTF map before, which is the same thing as temporarily holding the fastest time. Additionally, afaik, the movement in defrag is different from actual competition modes, so how would practicing your flag runs in defrag benefit you in competition? Stunt, for example, appears to actually "play" this defrag mode, but when he plays CTF in competition modes, he moves like a tank.

I'm sorry but you're just plain wrong. CPMA cpm and defrag cpm physics are not the same. For one, defrag does not have proper fps-independent physics (no, pmove_fixed does not count) and also defrag doesn't have the same values for movement as cpm.

Claiming that defrag skills can be transferred 1:1 to actual ctf skills is just as wrong as claiming tricking skills can be transferred to tdm skills.
I can recall a speedcapture team signing up for some ctf tournament and losing to everyone?

However, while the speedcaps have little to do with actual in-game caps, it does not make them any less impressive.

Yes, physics actually aren't 100% the same. For example, after defrag physics i feel to slow when play in CPMA. Anyway, it's almost the same.

Notice that speedcapture runners doesn't have to be good at actual frag playing. But they sure can do some fast flag-carrying performance in CPMA ctf aswell.

Speedcapture is all about fun and speed. Not about killing people. : - )

Are you talking about that IPL league that was created some years back? International Promode League or something to that effect? The SC team at that time didn't lose every match if that's the tournament you're referring to, but regardless that was years ago and debating on the progress of a team composed of offensive players in CTF matches that happened in 03/04 doesn't strike me as being interesting.
