just curious as to who here is using a pda phone and what kind. I just got a Nokia e63 and fits my needs nicely, the wifi usage is a plus for me. What do you fellas use?
ye, i'd say so. they look/are a bit trendy, but they have all the good features most would want in a PDA phone. the only real drawback for me was the lack of an actual keyboard. the touch screen was odd for me to type on, i like the feel of pressing actual buttons.
Touch screen for keyboard does get annoying, you do get used to it. I much rather have a real one, but if they were to put a real one on it, the screen size would take a massive hit.
Technically there is multi-tasking, only with the apps from Apple though. You can be in your calendar or Safari, and still control your music. When you close Safari, your tabs are still open too.
They said that multi-tasking would drain the battery 80% more, so that's why they put in the "Push" service.
iphone, and I know it's a shitty phone, but I make about five calls a month. So the rest of the features for the price, especially the sound quality paired with etymotic hf2 headphones with internet access which lets me listen to all of my music from home over winamp remote, make it a pretty darn sweet device. I can't believe its actually cheaper than an ipod. And yes, I know about the ATT payment plan, but considering I would still have that anyway because I do need a cellphone, I pretty much kill 10 birds with one stone here.
It's funny that many people criticize something without even looking/using it (it applies not only for iPhone). Why? Because they've read shitload of biased opinions on the Internet, because "Apple sux", because "I HATE APPLE FANBOIS" etc. etc.
Also some people are totally dumb because they think each product is made for EVERYONE... Really, is it that hard to understand, that each product got its own 'target'? I always say: "Give me a phone that is better than iPhone in fields of listening to music, browsing Internet, which is as fast as iP or faster". And what is the answer? *silence*
Well, Flash and native MMS support (ATM you can use it with 3rd party applications but to be honest I haven't tried any of them) will be implemented in the upcoming 3.0 firmware of which all features (as far as I know) will work on iPhone 3G. But yeah, new iPhone version (also to be presented in June I think) should bring some major hardware upgrades. However I don't think I will get this new iPhone because I doubt those changes will be worth spending more money :) I bought mine 2 months ago but I still would be able to sell it for like 300E :D I am quite surprised people are keen on paying for it that much (new can be sold for even 450-500E), its price raised here by 50-70% over last few months.
By the way 3.0 firmware will also bring another useful features, multitasking, 'real' navigation and a few more.
