Apparently in the 70's we had "Global Cooling" and scientists predicted the planet wouldn't stop getting colder.

No, actually it was all about the effect of aerosols vs the effect of GHG on the climate and aerosols are still a big questionmark, AFAIK.
What happened back then was the introduction of emission regulation.

Yes and no. No, GHG doesn't have an effect on sun intensity. But ever heard of sun spots (and solar cycles)? Sun intensity increases and decreases with sun activity. Currently we're somewhere around a minimum.

I've heard about sun spots, just never seen anyone blaming them for global warming.

i dont think sun spots have any effect on the heat and light output of the sun though...

It does momentarily, the sun squeezes the spots which creates a sun flare (puss) which hits the planet and heats it up a little.

If the water leaves the planet, we'd have to contain and recycle AMAP (as much as possible). What else would we need?

We could use a system of mirrors for lighting. The sun would bounce all the way down into the underground places. We could probably use this system now, in our homes and buildings, to make lighting less expensive. If more sunlight gets through, maybe more moonlight would as well?

Would we have to spend the day-time indoors, with constant air-conditioning? If it gets hot enough, plants wouldn't survive. We would need to farm everything inside greenhouses or the equivalent. Animals would also need to be indoors and air-conditioned.

The way some people talk about global-warming, we should stop putting resources into prevention and start putting them into after-disaster survival. It's funny, it almost sounds like a Noah's Ark scenario.

If we lose the atmosphere, nothing can survive on the surface. Let's say we can absolutely certain the atmosphere will remain. What then will be required for survival?

Instead of using grow-lights, could the mirror idea also work for greenhouses? If you have to build massive greenhouses, enough to feed the kinds of populations we have, and also potentially build massive indoor grazing grounds for livestock, using grow-lights would not work especially well.

Unity is a disaster waiting to happen. Power must be divided. Can you imagine the tyranny a one-world government could bring?

Either we attempt to unify the world in preventing global-warming, or we prepare, each nation in its own way, for surviving the post-disaster environment. As you can plainly see, much of the world continues polluting without regard for global warming concerns. There is no indication this will change. Unifying the world against global-warming isn't a risk worth taking, nor is the risk necessary. If anything, it is necessary we take no risks.

I don't see this global warming thing being a big problem. There wouldn't be flooding. We're talking about ice... frozen water. When water freezes, it expands. What happens when you put an ice-cube into a glass of water? If anything, if the ice-caps melt, the oceans will take up less space.

The real issue would be the increased temperatures. There would be more desert environments and current desert environments would be that much more uninhabitable or useful for crops and livestock.

The poles are going to be cold, with or without the icecaps. These two locations are the furthest away from the sun, and they have the smallest circumference.

The moon has no icecaps, but apparently, it's cold enough to walk on. With global warming, the worst to happen, is the median temperature line from equator to pole would move closer to the poles.

On to a real issue... marijuana should be legalized. How can we call ourselves a free nation if we can't even smoke weed, in our own homes? Why doesn't the country follow the Constitution?

I think nicotine is the second most addictive drug after heroine (might be off on this one, though it is highly addictive and certainly bad for you in numerous ways, but I guess that depends on how you define "safe".)

Also alcohol is legal, despite the fact that many users get aggressive and hurt others while under the influence. Not to mention drunk drivers, but in the end that also depends on how you define "safe".
