I don't care for the extra clutter and I have the normal q2 client with 3.20 patch or something I think. I managed to spec the WB finals but it whined about some maps or something. Where can I get all the maps without the extra?

pretty good watch but q2 looks very dated combat wise. Movement is fantastic but the weapons not so much. Its sad to see rl as practically useless as an in-fight weapon even in the hands of players as skillfull as purri and damiah, and the cg is way too overpowered.

map control is basically rail control tbh.

It depends on map, rockets are everything at maps like ptrip or ztn2dm2 are. If you dont have r0x at those map's you'll lose.

It's not that it's dated, it's just very different compared to the 3 other quakes.

OK I know it's the dumbest question of century but how do I watch demos in QII? I've put them in baseq2/demos and "play" doesn't seem to work :<

the command name for playing demos is "demomap demoname.dm2"
just put them in baseq2/demos and use that command

or you can just download the installer, search for the program called "demoplayer", install it and then just double click on the demo to play it ;)

OK so uhh I've made my own little pak with weapons/items sounds from QIV (which is instant fail, but I thought sounds there are pretty good to watch demos), how do I make these sounds "override" sounds in Purri pak (which is awesome in terms of graphics)? I suppose I can't edit Purri's pak since it's his work.
Oh and is there any way to remove shadows (something like r_mapoverbrights+r_gamma in CPM) and crosshair shaking?

Well you could rename purris pak to, lets say, "pak15" and then your pak file to "pak16" to override the sounds. Quake2 always reads the last pak last :)
For shadows i use gl_modulate "99" (or on some clients r_modulate 99) and then if the image is to orange, use gl_coloredlightmaps "0.5" or just "0".
And for the crosshair shaking, i think you mean that the screen is bobing, use these in your autoexec.cfg file:
set bob_roll "0"
set bob_pitch "0"
set bob_up "0"
set run_roll "0"
set run_pitch "0"
But bobing will be disabled on your server, if you connect to a server where bobing is enabled you screen will be bobing to. (same thing gose if a demo is reccorded on such a server).
