yea it's been a while since I checked a trace on it (I'm in Florida, route fine to chi servers in all other games w/ 50 ping), but I think it was something like go to ATL, TX, VA, NYC, then finally IL

heh, hard to beat a couple routes i had to VA until they switched it to speakeasy. First was from Winnipeg - Calgary - Vancouver - Toronto - Montreal - New York - then WDC. 2nd was even better, Wpg - Calgary - Vancouver - Seattle - San Fransisco - Dallas - Atl - WDC. Might as well have been routed to the Moon.

I can explain the reasoning behind it but it's not likely you will agree (as I've never seen you agree with anything except yourself).

The general idea behind major is that if the news is of interest to the majority of the readers in the selected category, then it should be major. However, ESReality is a mainly a Quake based site and since there is so rarely any official id news regarding the Quake games, when it does happen it's almost always major, as this is the prime place if you want to keep fully up to date regarding Quake.

Still, I thought about making it minor but as it's been slow news days lately, with 3 news item yesterday and only 1 the day before that, I decided against it.

That's not official news from id regarding the game. However, if there is a major server launch of Q3 servers in two European countries, then go ahead and post it as news.

You don't seem to get it. There was a second server release in Poland at a new location, this was not mentioned before, only the first release was mentioned (there are now two locations for servers in Poland). Then, the Swedish servers are up and running again.

I noticed something is wrong when I ping over 100 and my opponent pings 11, some serious routing problems there is! Hope they would add Finnish servers at some point, there are many players here.

really like that id software is solving problems around ql. they read the ql forum and they fix things.

as id mentioned, the ql dev team is little, so they have no quality testers for the game. we as players are the testers and we can change things, suggested things.

Best option for all would be if they put hamachi or other lan simulating thing into netcode. It's 2009 and I still playing on the same ping as 10 years ago, that's fkn'up.

Some people do really have problems. I mean, come on, it is news regarding Quake Live. I, for one, found it very interesting. Some news are better than no news.

If it is not interesting for you, just read the headline and then you can decide whether you want to read or not. Nobody is appreciating the work the author has done. He might not spend that much time on writing it, but he has done something for the community. However, it might be very minor but STILL!

From the comments it's obvious not everyone knew about it. I don't think its negative news either, it's great to see id making headway, just as it says in the news article.

The community was already informed that the new servers were a work in progress from the original news post. Restating that fact is not news. Would you post this same news post again tomorrow, and still maintain that its news, simply because there are still issues?

I don't care about people wasting screenspace re-stating positive things, because good publicity does the game good, which is ultimately good for all players. Re-stating that QL servers have bad routing in .pl is going to do nothing except reduce the player base in .pl, so I see no good for the community in the redundant posts.

Editing the original news post with an update would have made more sense.

You choose to see the negatives. If you read the posts, you will realize that it's stated that there are new Polish servers and that the Swedish servers are up and running again (which is good news). It's even called "great" in the news post.
