Jesus, another remake? I've not cared about the map situation before, at least publicly, but if you're going to release a "new" map for a "new" game, at least make it one that people play. 1.16n insta doesn't count either...
i don't like t4 either, but for completely other reasons. t4 isn't even close to as rail heavy as t6. Watch a jibo demo and look what he does with rockets, and with quakelives shotgun you can even dominate with that weapon. t4 doesn't have those ultra wide open spaces either which are all over t6.
i didnt play much t4 but every match I played was just railwhoring.
I played a lot of t6 in the last few days and it wasnt much railwhoring... up to the enemy style/skill.
so maybe its just my personal experience...
not the point.
the point is that t4 is an old q3 duel map and t6 is not, that's why the typical ignorant ESR/q3er instantly whines about the new map, which in this case is t6 :)
Sigh. Typical quake community: a year of "BRINg CLASSIC MAPS OR QL WILL FAIL YOU SUCK" etc whine followed closely by "OMG WHY ONLY OLD MAPS WE NEED NEW MAPS QL FAILS YOU SUCK"
By classic maps people mean maps that have worked in the past. Some of the mappers of those maps have given id software permission to include the maps. Though none of them have been included, so probably there is another reason why id isn't willing to add them yet.
what are the odds that i am actually the guy who tracked down all of these mappers and forwarded their updated contact information to id software 1 year ago :) they were (and probably still are) all very excited about the quake live project and they would have been proud to see their maps included, free of charge
hey, the training maps are cool
but you really should put a graphical explanation in addition to the written explanation, something like that
atm it's just like trying explaining how to do a shoruyken using only words when this is way shorter and efficient, and you don't have to speak english to get it
It's neither legal nor illegal. Copyright law and intellectual property rights are very much up in the air atm. If a law suit were to occur, the court very much could decide that the original creator owned rights to said design -- especially if the reproduction was made by a for-profit company opposed to just community content made for non-profit modding purposes.
Besides, almost everyone agrees that it's the wrong thing to do, and that is all that may matter.
Ive only played it a few times but since TDM only got one good map right now I wouldnt mind if some tournies added this one for 4v4 even though its probably too small and rail heavy, especially with 12 sec weaps.
