yes I did, there was lots of shit in it that was terrible, basically every human bit. But come on, what was not to like about the scenes with the transformers?
I mean the beginning with blackout transforming had me in stitches, it was so awesome to finally see a live-action transformer. And starscream owning the jets.
If you couldn't find at least one thing to like about the transformers film I feel sorry for you. For what it was, it was a great ride and the second film only has more to offer. CONSTRUCTICONS.
yea the CGI and action parts was good but all the cheesy jokes like when the dog pissed on one of the transformers foot and he pissed oil back is so fail... and all the stupid Ebay and world wide web shit made me feel ashamed for micheal bays sake.
the first trailer for Transfomer 2 was looking great but then the second came and starts whit one of the robots dancing to the "i'm so excited" song... sight
Micheal bay just can't make a movie without stupid mainstream jokes for 10 year old kids which makes the movie fail bad in my eyes, but yeah action and the CGI is cool.
All of that shit sells tickets and makes the film more 'user-friendly'.
Trust me, I read the Marvel transformer comics where they use to fucking kill eachother, so I'm no stranger to how dark the material can become. It just isn't the right mood for a blockbuster to be set, unless you explicitly state your intentions to take the characters to such a dark place (Dark Knight anyone?)
I just got baked with my best mate, let all that PC bullshit flow over me and waited for the action to start.
For me, the greatest moment in the first film was when Barricade ran after Bumblebee and Shia n' co and whilst in midair transformed into his car mode and sped off after them. Pure transformers fantasy captured so well :) That's all I want from these films the rest of the shit can gtfo.
I'm probably the only one that noticed or cared about this. When the transformers were fighting, there were a lot of scenes that looked like a shit load of scrap metal moving around because the view was so close/zoomed in.
In an interview that Bay gave, somebody actually asked a question regarding exactly your point. He said, and I'm paraphrasing, that the reason for that was because each shot with a transformer in it consumed so much time in post-production (rendering times of 76 hours etc) that many action shots assumed a low field of view to reduce the pressures on the production effort.
He also said that the second film won't suffer so greatly from this because of advancements in the technology used to render them and the fact they have a lot more money to throw about.
Saw it last night.
Could have been even worse but Sam Worthington is the saving grace of this movie, really good acting from him. Plot wasnt going too bad but there is so much cheesy moments all over kinda kills it off.
T2 is the last good movie made in this franchise.
I am tired of this uber action, shit exploding all over the place, robots/aliens/zombies taking over the planet, post-apocalyptic faggotry sci-fi movies.
Makes me recall some good shit I have seen in this genre.
On action side would like to see movies like Alien / Aliens ...movies like 30 year old but still send chills down the spine.
If its alien vs human struggle..something like predator (the original with Arnold) comes to mind.
Other than that gattaca, dark city these movies are great concept and well executed.
someone needs to step up and reinvent sci-fi like wachowskis did in matrix 1. Waiting for James Cameron's "Avataar" if soemone can pull it off, he is the one to watch out for.
Oh well... I suppose we did know that the quality of the movie will degrade from the classic awesomeness the 2nd was to the average "not that good" 3rd to the below average "WHERE IS ARNOLD" 4th.
