It's whatever is more comfortable for you. The IE3.0 is rather popular in the quake scene as well. They both use the same sensor its just a matter of shape.

I guess i've been trying to find a 'universal' mouse for all my gaming. I'd assume (yeayea i know its bad to assume), that IME would be bad for RTS games such as starcraft/warcraft because of its size.

I dont want to be carrying 2 different mice for my gaming needs lol. I guess IME hasnt been as publicized as much as WMO when it comes to quake in my eyes.

It's not about what mouse is better for what game, it's about what mouse suits your needs. Saying one mouse is more suited for a genre of gameplay is simply marketing crap. If the mouse moves like you want it to move, tracks well, and is comfortable in your hand, then you've got a winner regardless of what game you're playing.

since they're dirt cheap you could just get both and try them out yourself. I use the IME because I use mouse4 & 5 for browsing.

my mouse takes a bit of a beating when I play and I'm starting no notice how it misclicks every now and then. I love the shape and sensor, but it feels abit cheap in the buttons and mwheel.

side buttons are quite crappy on 3.0, but I can't live without them <3

same. mouse 4= lightning gun, mouse5 = shotgun.

Yep, the side buttons are the worst, but the mouse itself is nice :)

I went for 3.0 instead of WMO simply because it has side buttons which I both use for gaming and especially browsing (back/forward in firefox).

1.1ss are very good but the shape of a wmo is a lot better for me =)

Hehe, i can live w/out side buttons.

The IMO1.1 has a horrible shape in my hand, so i've already ruled it out.

I have a big mouse collection and i've narrowed it down to the 3.0 and wmo (i own 2 of each).

It's just that i carry my laptop and mice around a lot and i think it might be best to be comfortable and consistent to one mouse instead of being so wishy washy.. but i just think that's in my nature.

it's a tough call, they're both great mice. in fact i'm in a similar position - i've been swapping between the two over the past few weeks. still can't make my mind up but i'm erring towards the 3.0 for m4+5 convenience.

mouse gestures alleviate the need for side buttons while browsing. firefox has a plugin called firegestures for this.

You could just disassemble an IE 3.0, sand down the top with 400-800 grade sandpaper (remember to use water for smoother results). The next step would be to mask it using tape and then spray paint it in whatever color you want. Finish with a thin layer of clearcoat.

;O ive had all of those mice as well at some point or another. best bet is to just pick one and stick to it. the best mouse is the one you pay no attention to while in game IMO.
