My 7800GT gets 40-120 frames, scrims are iffy, if you play pubs, expect 30-60 frames.

So, unfortunately, yours wouldn't be able to handle it.

Also, the game is pretty shit now. When it was released, I scrimmed it for two months with some top teams, and it was really good. It was somewhat simple, and balanced.

Now it's just a stupid spam fest with dumb weapons and bullshit MMO-type features. It's stupid now.

It's a fun game to go screw around in, but I would say it definitely isn't quite the competitive type of game. It's got the potential, but not quite there imo.

The problem with tf2 is that unless your playing it with a clan and have some sort of team effort it's very simplistic and boring.

If you want a team based game thats actually fun to play on a public server I would suggest something like battlefield 2142. It forces people to work together with it's squad system, plus you have a ton of options during the game (different weapons/ classes/ vehicles etc) the maps are great, and it's just a fun game to play in general..

I don't how well it will run on your computer (you'll need windows of course), but it ran okay on my previous computer which was a 6 year old amd64 3000+

I sometimes enjoy the random mess around feel of the pubs in TF2. It's not competitive sure, but it can be damn fun to just run around and kill and be killed in ridiculous ways.

I think this game is amazing. One thing I don't like: The Spy Class. Not too familiar with the scene, but that class almost wrecks the game for me.

The spy is the only reason to play TF2. Seriously if you keep getting killed by spies you just don't know what you're doing, he has so many counters it's ridiculous, a pyro spamming flames completely destroys a spy.

Spy check duty is more satisfying than playing a spy, imo. The rage that ensues is delicious.

I just stick to uncommon places if they have a mouth breather on their team now, luckily with the ambassador if a pyro is camping a sentry I can just headshot the engineer and then me (or usually a friend) can suicide sap everything.

Plus there's nothing more satisfying than killing a flame spamming pyro :D

The spy is by far the hardest class in the game to play anyway. I mean don't get me wrong, 1 shot 1 kill will always be retarded but that's why TF2 is a pub only game for me.

Spies just make you paranoid. You must do 180 turns every 5 seconds when you are a soldier or heavy in a crowded server.

Its a great game. You will need a powerful CPU so get the fastest quad core you can afford or buy a cheap one and overclock.

As a Quaker you will already be a good scout and soldier, possibly demo. If you want to try something new and have some fun go spy, medic or engie. I am mostly medic these days because ppl rarely play him on pub servers. When I'm a medic my team usually wins.

Its very easy to be on top of scoreboard as medic. Just heal everyone non stop, try to have everyone over healed at all times, deliver an uber when needed and have fun :D

Dont think you need a high powered machine for it, I play with around 80fps on average, and its fucking piss easy.

Well my fps drops to 40fps on 2fort. Mouse becomes laggy and its hard to aim. I have E8400. Quad increases your lowest fps.

I've never experienced that mouse lag you speak of, I'm rather use to sometimes playing at 30-40 fps when its 32player. Reminds me of old school CS on my piece of shit pc.

you specified you're just looking to have fun. If your computer will run it ok, then I think you'd have a lot of fun with it. It's next to IMPOSSIBLE to take seriously. The deaths are so funny that you can't even get raged unless you're absolutely retarded and are trying to take something intentionally silly to be serious.

Get an actual video card and you'll be fine. My single core 2.4ghz AMD with a 8800gt machine plays the game flawlessly at 1680x1050, and my main computer makes easy work of it.
