There is a lot Starcraft here lately. Are these Starcraft matches online? A lot of people prefer lans, but they don't understand, the internet gives freedom. If you can do all your work online, you can live wherever you want. You don't have to be tied to a location just 'cause your job is there.

Nope, 90% of the Starcraft matches discussed on ESR are on LAN in South Korea. Only the 'foreigner' games are online (like the ret vs eSTRO team members show-matches, Valor and ESL).

What exactly is it with the VLC link? Is that supposed to be free or pay per view? Mine always starts of very smooth and then suddenly coming to an abrupt halt.

The VLC link is just the same mms stream that goes to gom player - just without the launcher forcing you into gom. Does the regular gom player work for you?

I am not too familiar how it all works with gomtv. I know there are streams on the site, for some you have to pay (exclusive content I suppose), for some you don't. These 2 matches for example I cannot find via the site, but only through that VLC link which fucks out after a while which only leaves me with re-opening and viewing from the start again. The same happens if I open the link with the GOM-player.

i think i do now understand what you mean - the stream only works when the cast is on (which was like 11-13:30 CEST this morning)
also on the gom site quite a lot of content is premium only (for the streams premium means a higher quality stream with higher resolution etc - the normal quality stream is free) mostly VODs that is - the Averatec-Intel classics VODs however are free (starcraft related: only valor VODs aren't)
if you missed the cast this morning (see the schedule up there in the news item) you can only wait for the VODs to be put up - i've already linked them but most likely they're not up yet

Though I still had the problem with the stream just randomly stopping at some point while the cast was on. I suppose it's bandwidth/connection related after all. What confused me was the fact that I couldn't see whether the player was loading or anything (this may be VLC related?) Pity, was really interested in how that game between Flash and Shuttle with the proxy-gate ended. Oh well, guess I'll have to wait for the VOD :) Though I find a lot of the the content takes really forever to load even though it's low-quality :(

you should really watch the VOD (once it's up) - was a really really good match
also the gom streams used to crash a lot but it's become a lot better
i'd further suggest you try gom player (personally it's the only media player i use - cba with vlc & media player classic anymore) - i only installed it because vlc stopped the playback too often in gom season 1 (you could try to change the buffer size aswell though - somewhere in the vlc options)

Lets say I wanna watch this game ( http://www.gomtv.net/classic/vod/251 ) with the gom player instead of via the site. How do I do this? Because using just that link won't work.

gom player is just a media player - i got it to playback youtube videos given the correct link - no idea about flash video on the gom site tho (its just normal flash video - maybe your browser has an outdated flash version or sth? maybe blocked?)

Hmm, okay. Since Vedic said with the VLC link there one can avoid having to go to the gom site I thought one might be able to do this with VODs as well :)
