I have no idea if interrail is the same thing as eurail. The interrail global pass entitles the owner to ride on any european trains for one month..is that the same at all?

yeah that sounds like the same kind of deal. after looking at the interrail website it seems like they are more focused on backpacking kind of tours etc so it looks pretty sweet!

I wouldn't know what to tell you to see though, it really depends what you want to see. I would say that its really worth it to go to Rome and see all the cliche sites, the forum etc.

Are you looking more for summer places to party or to do some really touristy stuff?

and also interail gives you way more possibilities since there are more train connections and more stations. And you don't have to reserve anything. So a lenient schedule which is perfect for travelling like that.

Only advantage planes have, is that they're faster on longer distances.

Did that last summer, deffo recommend south of france like Nice, and Italy . Also Austria(innsbruck was great for beer and relaxing) and Berlin. Umm, maybe take a spin up to Scotland, check out Glasgow or Edinburgh?

For Germany, I guess Berlin, Hamburg and Köln (Cologne) are the best, also South Germany for beer.

If you want to concentrate on big cities I would try to do a route like:

Amsterdam, Hamburg, (maybe Kopenhagen), Berlin, Prague, Vienna, Venice (hey you can brag about it all your life ;)), Rome, Florence, Nice, Barcelone (maybe Madrid and Lisboa), Paris, (Londen, if the tunnel is covered), Brugge.

Haven't been to all yet, but they are all on my to do list ;)

Note that it's a circle so you can start where you want.


There are also several great landscapes/regions along the way, so you can stop and enjoy those whenever you want ;)

So for a while now I havent been able to access ze internets but now that I'm in a "proper" hotel that has wifi I'll throw up a quick update. We decided that france and belgium are shit after hanging out for a while and took a long train to the town of Hendaye just next to the spanish border in france. We tried to get a train to barcelona but everything was booked full and no hotels or hostels had room so we stayed the night outside. Felt like a railhobo but it wasn't too bad. After that we got on a train to Irun which is on the spanish side of the border and stayed there for a couple of days. Very nice trails for tracking and stuff but we were fixing to get to barcelona so we just left it. We stayed in Irun for two days and then headed on to barcelona. The train took for five hours or so but luckily there was some guys who were coming from the bull run in Pamplona so we had something to talk about..too bad the only people out of the bull runners who spoke english were an american from the south (who was apparently on leave from iraq or something) and a french rich kid. Now we're in Barcelona and it's pretty great. Gonna head to the beach tomorrow if the weathers as good as it was today..its facken cheap here and the girls are hawt. Spain is a 100 times better than france..eat that you fucking frogs.
