Q3 and QL don't have a high skill ceiling so its easy for people to get on top and/or get better. If you have great aim you are half way there. And having great aim in q3/QL can sometimes be as simple as optimising your graphics/mouse setup for increased accuracy.

You can afford to lower your sensitivity A LOT because there is no air control and you are not doing U turns non stop like in qw/cpm. Its hard to run out of mouse pad space basically.

In qw and cpm you see same people dominating for years (sort of like tennis I guess) because those games are not just based on aim. You need loads of talent.

Perfect examples: Voo, Reload, Griffin, Dag, Reppie.

Sure if we remove the strategy element from vq3 it would be +forward aimwhoring, agreed. But in reality there's loads of strategies to use at the top... Or at anyother level of skill for that matter.
Talent is always a factor, unless ofc you're rolling dice for a living.
