Alessandro "stermy" Avallone, who is best known for his success in Quake 4 and in FIFA at the CGS events, but was also just recently invited for the ESL TV Invitational Quake Live tournament. Konstantin "swine" Bös sat down with the Italian and spoke with him about the ESL TV tournament, his preparations for QuakeCon, Quake Live in general and of course the stermy lessons.

Are you confident about the QuakeCon rule set and map pool?

stermy: I personally wanted to see a fifty-fifty balance between new and old maps. I would have preferred to have for example, two great new maps and two old and legendary maps like dm6 and ztn. Or Even a five maps map pool would have been ok. But I'm not sure how the seven maps format will work out.

He definitely blow-dries his hair. Then uses some non-stiffening hairspray to get that "looks like i just woke up, right? But I actually tried this" style.

I'm betting 15-20 mins minimum.

but good interview. hope he places well at qcon.

the only two people who were successful in pk are vo0 and fat. i remember him placing 3rd in some q4 tourneys, dunno. in q3 he didnt do anything.

His first, win was at an event where the top two players in the world were at the other tournament in Sweden (cooller, toxic) and the other top 5 (fox, fooki et cetera) were also in Sweden.

His other win, Kode5 Italy...

He failed to deliver more often than not, he always put himself in stupid positions to hit that rail.

Cypher? He's not even top 10 when it comes to Successful Quake players. He had minor success in Q4 but didn't win anything and then he won a couple of Q3 tournaments, that's it. Stop trying to rewrite history kid.

IMO: Cypher won several tournaments with some of greatest line ups ever. He would have won far more, if as many tournaments were being held as in the old days. He has reigned as #1 for a while now - it's just unfortunate that not many tourneys are being held. You could make a good argument for him being the most skilled q3 dueler ever too, though the change in gameplay following the osp -> cpma change makes this comparison hard to make.

Not even top 10? Sure you're not just giving more credit to those players who were stars when you were more interested in following quake?
