Well that sucks. Because a digital display looks like shit coming off of an analog cable (vga), so I guess they're simply two completely, COMPLETELY different things, that just happen to share the name "Monitor" or "Display".

For the guys that think its a fake 120hz, its not. 1 dvi = 60hz yes, but these monitors use dual-link DVI technology, which means 2 times 60zh. See it as a dual core of the monitors.

I only see 1 reason not to buy this samsung, it has only 1 input. For people that use their xbox and pc, its not so smart.

there's 200Hz tvs out so there shouldn't be a problem to have a lcd monitor with 200Hz aswell - regardless of the resolution/size

200hz TV is "artificial" it calculates or simply multiplies extra frames from a signal with way less fps, bringing lag with this

what we want for a computer gaming monitor is one that accepts a higher refreshrate as signal (native) and shows this with the least lag as possible

Anyone know how the Samsung 2233RZ compares to Viewsonic's 120hz VX2265WM? I haven't been able to find a decent review of the Viewsonic panel yet. According to a few forums the Viewsonic doesn't have an OSD and has a bright backlight, but has lower input lag.

I read the review of the viewsonic one, and they did input lag tests along side a CRT and they were almost pixel perfect to one another.

The samsung one is better in terms of quality, but not when it comes to input lag.

My suggestion is, if you are planning to buy a 120hz, wait. This viewsonic is awesome if you look at the input lag, its looks like a CRT. But...colors suck ass. Wait for one(I think it will be a viewsonic, they are the ones that make low input lag monitors) that has good colors, 0 input lag and no backlight bleeding

just got an answer from viewsonic europe (i wrote them an email and asked when it'll be in europe):

this model is not coming to europe. something similar will first be available in form of a successor, called VX2268wm... in the end of july.

from viewsonic:

It will not be brought into the UK as it does not meet our stringent CE regulations. The version we will have in Europe will be the New improved VX2268wm.

This model will be manufactured in June and 1st shipments arrive in the UK in August. The model will be 120hz and improved 3D ready.

The 3D glasses will be sold separately as an option. The potential graphics card is thought to be NVIDIA.

I hope that you will be able to wait to purchase this upgraded model to your VX2265wm and that you enjoy the new VX2268wm even more.

I haven't read that from any other source than dedi's post, which makes me think he was mistaken. There is no good reason why 120Hz would be limited to 1680x1050.

It's so annoying that it needs 2 dvi ports for 120 hz. Most graphic cards only have 2 dvi ports so if you have 1 monitor now that uses 1 dvi port you can't plug in a seconday 120 hz monitor.

This is so cool. My last CRT was 17" 85hz and I wanted 120hz so badly it hurt. Soon I get a 120hz, TFT @ 22". Time to reduce railgun damage again.

Theres the 2233rz, seems pretty nice judging by replies.

In August 1st the new Viewsonic will be released (im waiting for this one, hope all this extra eye-burning for two months more with my 17' CRT pays off), I guess with all these isues solved and near to 0 input lag.

I just saw a commercial on tv, for some new 200hz Sony screen, so perhaps it won't be too long before we get that for gaming as well?

I'm pretty sure those 200 Hz won't be real, just like previous 100 Hz LCDs that used black frames to reduce ghosting.

i've just read a review of the samsung 2233rz, which said that gamers didnt actually benefit of the 120hz feature (according to them it's only useful, when playing with those 3d glasses).

and accroding to them, the better - actually best option (22") is the Samsung 2263DX.

Sounds like a bad review. Because most sites that have people who knows what they write about has mostly been very positive towards the use of 120hz in games instead of the 3D function. The games where you have good use for 120hz was almost as smooth as on a CRT screen according to them. And some people has even notice a big diffrence @ desktop use because of the smoother cursor feeling. The big question mark for me is the inputdelay. 120hz is great but if it comes with more input delay then my old panel then I don't know if it worth the update. Viewsonic's 120hz model seems to have more or less betther input delay then the samsung. Viewsonic has had many TN panels with very low input delays the last 3years so I bet their 120hz panel will do betther when it comes down to this. Time will tell, first generation OLED screens for TV use is already at sale at the local stores perheps it's just a matter of time before we see the next generation of flat panels?

i've just came back home and connected it...

first impression - it's sweet! although i will have to do some further testing :) (it's my first LCD btw., i've been using CRT for my whole life)

I've seen this monitor in action and have used it quite a bit, this monitor is a CRT replacement.

What can I say after 3 hours of using it...
- I changed refresh rate in Windows and ATi drivers to 120Hz and tried a bit of CPM and wSw... I was going to say that 'tearing' (maybe it's not a good definition of that effect) was quite noticable. Although I noticed that I forgot to change one thing in ATi drivers (Refrsh Override), it was 100Hz so I changed it to 120Hz and now it works awesome. I would even say that games looks smoother than on my old CRT.
- DivX movies of course look horrible but it's quite obvious.
- INPUT LAG:
I would swear I noticed some input lag in game but... I decided to try it side by side with my CRT - Mitsubishi DiamondPro 750SB (I think it's an equivalent of one of the best NEC 17" monitors). And what?

According to that test with green digits (:D) there is NONE input lag (I may upload pic later).

I must set up some things to make it more comfortable (now I am using my CRT's settings, of course besides resolution, nad it is still looking very good lol), I think it will be even better after few days of using (it always took me a lt of time to get used to new monitor, eye's correction etc.), can't say anything bad about it atm tho (there are some flaws, although real minor).

I think it would be still possible to give it back but I don't even consider it :)

What about the cheap stands? I've heard it wobles when you are fucking typing.

why is it bad for divx movies?

well, in general many of those divx movies aren't in a very good quality. on 17" CRT it doesn't make that big difference but actually 22" wide is MUCH bigger (also divx are in low resolutions, far from screen's native one)
still, if distance is big enough, it's rather fine (i was used to watching movies next to my CRT because of its small size :)

unfortunately i wasn't able to made any more testing because i had some different fucking hardware problems and those have been annoying me as hell for a few days :D (safe to say that i had to install XP over 5 times....)
