you really think so? I keep hearing stermys name being mentioned alot but I've not yet seen any hard evidence of field leaving play. Is Stermy really up there with Cypher, Noctis and Rapha?

Cooller and noctis aren't going, and Cypher is probably rusty because of no good QL servers available for him.

I'm not sure. But then again, the difference wouldn't have been that big, since QL was newer, and he was at the top of his Q3 game at the time. Many things have changed since then; map pool, netcode, weapon balancing, time limit, etc. Also, I think the euros have quite a bit to catch up on for ca2 and t9, which will cause at least a few upsets.

The problem is that for the first time it seems the americans are playing a lot.

Quakecon is a "choose your map" tournament, so chance/dahang will have a solid shot at winning vs any euro because they both play ca2 and other new maps very well.

It's even up for grabs who is the best among euros.. Cypher may or may not still be the best because there isn't much good practice available. Av3k has been gaining ground since losing to stermy. Fazz fox spartie and killsen are in shape.

I watched a few Rapha demos not too long ago and he looked very impressive! Can't remember for the life of me who he was playing or on what map but can remember being very impressed by his confidence and solid play.
I'm pretty guttered Noctis isn't playing, I think he would've placed top 3 fo' sho'! :)

1. missing russian players, thats like 50 percent of worlds skilled players
2. some underdog might end up winning the whole thing, quakelive has a retarded spawn system....some guy can get lucky over and over again.
3. other than top contenders like rapha, stermy, fox etc..someone like griffin / dahang can do really well.
