People or companies want a chance to get exposure through Quake Live. Unless QL GTV easily allows external advertising... I dont exactly see it happening.

Theres also so many other good and valid reasons behind no QL GTV. Some of those reasons were mentioned during quakecon by Carmack (or was it Straton?). For example: people who have never played the game arent able to watch these games and see how awesome quake live is, because they first have to register and download the game before they can join QL GTV.

To be honest I'm pro - stream myself. I find these streams to be a lot more exciting than GTV's, when done properly.

1) GTV doesn't mean that there will be no streams anymore in the future!

2) QL has already ingame-ads. No reason they won't be displayed in GTV. A stream is nevertheless better suited for advertise though.

Quake live ingame ads allow id software to monetize games. It doesnt allow to broadcasters to monetize anything.

It would probably not kill streams, thats true though... but it will dominate the streams by far.

Enabling QL-GTV will not make sponsors exposure less, rather more!
Why?
* QL-GTV can cover small / medium online tournaments / leagues wich has no airtime today anyway.
* Connection / Location will not matter as much as on stream, wich adds even more viewers.
* If banners are implemented more, you still get good exposure.

I think QL-GTV is a win win situation.
Leagues with QL-GTV will produce more interest and insight for the game. Compare lowskill teams / players with highskillers and learn even more.
Why not implement sponsorbanner at mapchange, to get even more expo.

I don't get why GTV would kill streams. If the tournament organisers want a stream, they make one. If they don't want to do it or can't do it, they don't and set up GTV. No problem.

Are you aware that probably 90% of all quake tournaments are organised to let people have some fun and not to earn money for the organisers?

90% of the Quake tournaments is.. 1 and a half? ESL and co. will want to make money.

even most esl tournaments aren't streamed, so WHY THE FUCK WOULD THEY LOSE MONEY IF THERE WAS GTV for those tournaments

I'm talking about money tournaments that actually matter.. ESL would lose money because they would get less visitors on their stream which means less numbers to show their sponsors. Pretty simple and obvious.
