I should have said that not everyone is mentally ready for Starcraft.
Usually though, if you were trying to be a competitive game, you would hopefully make the switch to a more advanced game.

You being 42 probably means you wont ever try to go pro or win big events, as those take a lot of time and effort, but never give up the fight to have fun.

Obviously there is an age where you simply can't understand starcraft at all, but that's below 12 or something. And considering the average age of Korean pros one could think that with 27 your aren't mentally ready, anymore.

In the end, fps and rts are just very different gametypes, some like one, some like the other, some like both.
There is no "better or worse".

quake has no skill cap, much like soccer or golf. Anyone can play it, but there is always room for improvement. There is no doubt there are aspects of the game you fail to see. There is so much depth and thought that is need to be a top dueler, i guess the depth is lost on some.

Some people just think its all about point and click, and they lose because they dont point and click as well as others.
Those ppl play starcraft and wow and whatever other game that doesnt require ms reactions in an environment where tactical thought and strategy combined with reflex's and coordination mean the difference between winning and losing.

I suppose comparing the games is like comparing 5 min chess (starcraft) and boxing (quake series). Both require tactical thinking and strategy to be at the top, one of them also has the added pressure of coordination and reflex's while implementing the strategy and game plays.

To be fair, the overall skilllevel in starcraft is probably slightly higher than in quake with a greater playerpool and proteam houses.

I'm a quaker myself, dont play starcraft.
But I like following it in events and watching vods because of the incredible high level.

Like you say quake has no skill cap, but the same is true for starcraft.
Both games can be enjoyed at an almost unfathomable level.
The better you are at the game yourself the better you can understand when something magical happens.

Please, don't put WoW in the same sentence with Starcraft.

Us normal people that like sc, but not motivated enough to find streams for it's events.
We used to get to watch sc when it was at the same events as quake!
So bring back quake and more people will watch sc as well :p
