7G uses black cherry mx switches. They have to tactile feedback, or click.

Filco has some nice keyboards, with black, blue, and brown switches. The blue ones click, and have tactile feedback, and the brown ones, don't click but have tactile feedback.

nop. nor have i seen it. just heard of it every time some brings up the subject of clicky (ibm) keyboards.

There are insanely expensive+good keyboards if you have the money to import. For a reasonable price of <50 you can get a cherry g80something with blue switches (there are brown black and white i think).

I just settled with microsoft 500 i had in a drawer, but if you want something more, the site above is everything you will ever need.

ps: many dislike 7g btw

I'm using IBM M here but I haven't had much experience with other clicky models apart from old shitty keyboards. This keyboard is very heavy, it has great layout, buttons are spread out a bit, huge enter, and of course nothing can beat buckling springs for audio and tactical feel. There is no way I will ever sell it considering I spend many hours in front of the computer. I believe finding a used M model is not hard because of the mass production, plus you won't pay premium price like you will for say Das Keyboard.

An interesting fact is that a company called Unicomp bought the patent from IBM to continue producing buckling spring keyboards and it seems they are the only ones that can achieve the very similar feel of the M model judging by Youtube videos.

I would like to try one day Das Keyboard, Unicomp Customizer, Cherry G80, Filco, happy hacker and other highly praised keyboards.

Stupid question, but what is a "clicky" keyboard?

mechanical parts in the key switch generate a small sound when the switch is activated. guess it helps to know when a key is pushed enough thus makes typing a bit faster or helps not to bottom out the keys.

full n-key rollover (press every key, have it register) only works thru ps/2

Out of curiosity, are there any keyboards that can successfully register all 100+ keypresses simultaneously? It rarely causes me trouble but I know many key combinations don't work on my cheap surplus OEM keyboards.

Edit: But that was with only letter keys, with the G-keys I get 12 as a max, but it said 13 for a split second.

my 7G has no problem with over 50 keys but I never tried more than that

Completely impractical. All you need is n-key rollover and you should never have a problem with being a mozart on the keyboard without missing a beat.

What do you mean with clicky? Do you have to hear a click, or just resistance when you press a key? Try the G19. The keys have good resistance, but it's quiet though.

I've actually never had one of those :P But I've used them plenty at schools and jobs.

they also weighted 20 times more than normal keyboards that ppl uses today.
