Anyone else's local radio stations on a Beatles binge because of the re-releases? I can't stand them and last week has saturated me with their music to such a point that I'd shake the hand of Mark Chapman if I ran across him :E
I'm worried.. is it done in the same vein as their albums or is one of these overdone jobs? cause the producion and mixing on their albums are some of the best I know.
on a srs note; they were nothing compared to a lot of the other bands at the time but a million times better than the shite that's pumped out these days. the killers?!?! what the hell is that generic talentless noise?
Remastering is often a bullshit marketing word for increasing the overall volume of the record and reducing the dynamic range, leading to the kick drum sounding distorted etc.
Original Beatles records are already master pieces of outstanding sound engineering. The record company has manufactured their alterations against the will of the original engineer, Geoff Emerick.
I had a Beatles binge a few years back, don't know why. can't bring myself to listen to an album any more with the exception of the white album and even then I have to be in the mood. that said, I'll always have a few select tracks on a playlist.
never understood why all the fuss about certain bands, especially the beatles and rolling stones..
maybe they had something revolutionary back in the day, but to me it sounds so bland and lacking personality.
and i'm pretty open minded when it comes to music genres (listening to ska, dub, roots, indie, alternative, synth pop, post-punk, goth, industrial, metals, electro, hip-hop etc. etc.)

You're not listening to the right Beatles. I didn't like the Beatles until my early 20s, I think I first realized that the early "boy-band" stuff they did, all pre-Bob Dylan introducing them to pot, is NOT representative of what The Beatles became when I first heard Tomorrow Never Knows. Then I started looking around a bit more and discovered "what the fuss is all about".
Yep. Their early stuff is kinda catchy pop-rock, but it's their later music that makes me go "whoa, that's fucking sweet."
Or w/e expression of wonder you kids use these days.
Music is all about the personal taste, and seeing as there is no accounting for bad taste, its a pointless topic of discussion generally conceived by those with the inability to accept someone else's opinion over theirs.
That's the beauty of being smart, you can encapsulate an entire thread in one swift swoop.
You using an abbreviation of a latin phrase used in mathematics or philosophy would be a little more convincing if you'd have hadn't failed 8th grade and never returned to school o_O
That one line is enough to balance the simplistic (at best) writing and generally uninspired instrumentals? I think not. At best you could have gone with time signature changes...
Also, Yoko's in it.
Also, a plus to whoever wants to count how many times the chorus is repeated... seriously it's worse than a K.C. and the Sunshine Band song.
