damn! that's an awesome find phaces...definitely benefits from the "less is more" aesthetic: just the right amount of appropriately themed music, comical footage and spot-on length. a mini-marvel.

I think these people just to watch avi'd demos with their choice of music. Which takes away the imagination of presenting the frags.

This movie could easily take 9+, but his editing obsession didn’t let it. I could tell from just 1 min that the creator’s skill rocks and there was no need to show off for the entire length. Q3 has amazing content and frags and good content must be part of every Q3 movie. He clearly missed that.

it's a very ambitious movie, but i think it doesn't work at all.
i really loved your oldschool frags and real life footage of the old gladiators.
BUT:
half through the movie i was already bored. it doesnt feel like a movie, but like five trailers, which were attached into one big project. it was always the same kind of music and the style got very predictable.
you could have emphasised the historical momentum of the frags, because the viewer doesn't realise that if he or she hadn't seen the frags live back in the day.
nice effort, though. i'm looking forward to your next q3 movie :)

What people don't realize about gaming movies is that camera work, though it might seem overused here, brings in replay value. Frags, just like tricks, gain depth that keeps the content fresh second, third, Xth time you watch a movie. So, good bet on editing and camera.

Movie looks really great, the video clips of players was really nice as gillz said + the little audioclips.

But for me, this video really lacks the action, which is maybe the most important thing for me in quake videos. Didn't make me want to immediately open quake and ask for friend for a game.

Also, is there a link to the audio of Carmac and Prozac? I want to listen to that conversation/interview in its entirety.

I don't want to sound like an ass but this movie needs more effects and camer angles and hopefully we'll get some player model switching during the combat scenes in the next movie

It feels like if you prefer all the effects and shit you're not really interested in how skilled the frags actually are but more interested in the visual aspect of it. If you use the POV instead you put it into a different aspect where people get the whole scenario behind the frag.

Quake players don't want extra eyecandy they want skilled frags seen from a pov - that's it. Just take a look at which quakemovies are considered the best and see how much camera angles and nonsense they've used in them.

Excellent movie!

This is by far my favorite Q3 movie (and gaming movie on the whole, for that matter). You did a great job creating a movie-atmosphere out of this frag-film by using all of the effects you accomplished. I'm actually one of the few (apparently by reading all the comments on this post) that enjoy the work of effects and how it can beautify a game. Although, the thing I liked the most in this movie was the way you used the competitive part of Quake (with the irl pictures, shoutcasting, frags from the pros) and made a movie about THAT.

Good Job dKsL, I really enjoyed it!
