Maybe make a function that makes ground act like "quick sand" and if you're not keeping roughly 450ups average speed then you start sinking into ground... if you're at 320 ups average, you're fucked and stuck into the ground until enemy finds you and kills you.
ztn is fine. Not every map needs to have a 428-348 scoreline. A game with a one frag difference is much more interesting than a blowout. Yes, there will be +back, but that's professionalism - only going to get worse if Quake Live becomes a backed competitive game with more money on the line ;)
I quite enjoy ztn games...but then again I'm also happy with tight CTF games. Maybe there's something wrong with me :S (Perhaps relating too closely to 'real' sports)

ztn never meant that map to be played in 1v1 anyway
although russians can produce inasane games on it, I'm not a big fan of ztn in duel. it has broken flow and with todays connection its kinda a railfest imo
