Not gameplay-wise. The only part HoN is DotA superior (not included graphics) is the server system, the anti-leaving system, the many different binds and settings, and some minor details (such as shop interface).

When looking at pure gameplay DotA is still way ahead.

Icefrog have done an awesome job concerning DotA, so whatever he might produce under Valve's wings will definately be interesting to follow.

Not saying that HoN is bad though. I like it actually.

what do you think is missing most in hon?
and in what dota's gameplay is far better than hon?

HoN's lack of heroes.

It's not a case of missing specific heroes, its just that 50C10 << 95C10

Just about every of them but to mention a few: Meepo, Kunkka, Brood, Drow, SK. HoN needs more heroes!

And btw: I don't like some of the changed DotA heroes. For an instance Omniknight's new slow spell.

I like jerez more than omniknight... I think he's a lot more versatile even though omni's slow was more powerful. And arachna is so similar to drow that it'd be redundant to add a drow port as well.

I don't. Omni is a support hero and should therefore not have his supportive slow skill swapped for a dmg-skill. The synegy fails.

On the drow part you might be right. But that was only a list of heroes comming to my mind. It doesn't change the fact that HoN needs more heroes.

The hero pool is pathetically low compared to DotA.

But enough about the heroes. Antoher part i am concerned about is balances in newer HoN versions. As I mentioned Icefrog was incredible at balancing DotA. The former versions of DotA was nothing conpared to the versions where Icefrog was leading.

Will this new team be able to add new and interessting heroes while keep the game balanced? No one knows but whatever project Icefrog will lead will with high possibilities be wellmade and balanced.

well, it is in closed beta, and they do add heroes from time to time.

And as you said they still have balancing issues to work on. So imo they are doing it the right way. Balance more first and add new heroes bit by bit.

Yeah. I guess what I am trying to say is; that Icefrog did an awesome job for DotA, and will be hard for S2games to do for HoN what Icefrog did for DotA.

I do agree that S2 aren't as good at balancing the game as Icefrog is - but that's just because the community has been spoiled by how godlike icefrog is at what he does. For now I think S2 are focusing on content 1st, balance later. I think in time they will get the hang of it, so to speak.

I guess Jere/Omni is a matter of preference. but I do like his role as support/tank/dps hybrid. And nymphora is such an awesome hero that she more than makes up for the loss of a more pure support hero.

Still though, Valve are really good at what they do, and so is Icefrog, and S2 are going to have a VERY tough time competing.

I actually think it's a good competitive game. Lots of depth and (!) well balanced. Why do you say that?

compared to wow which has chars that you pre-rice ?
