Question to those more experienced with Quake Live....

Is the Rocket Launcher different? I know the railgun, shotgun, and LG changes, but was not sure about the RL.

Is it faster? Is the splash weaker than before?

They originally upped it loads, then they made it smaller again then they set it in between the two values.

So unless they've since lowered it it's bigger than VQ3.

When did they increase it originally? I joined during closed beta and I've never heard anything about a splash radius larger than q3. Up until the end of closed beta or beginning of open, it was always the same size as q3. Then they decreased it. And rockets in qlive travel 100ups more than in q3.

It was never increased. Rockets are faster, and the enemy models were made smaller during the closed beta, which led to everyone thinking the splash was larger despite it being the same. Then later, splash radius was decreased to partially compensate for the faster rockets.

So right now, rl splash radius is smaller than vq3.

Then it must be the netcode that makes me get hit by rocket splash that would never hit in vq3.

By stronger I meant more kick back.

Here is some correct data:

* Rockets travel at 1000ups vs Q3's 900ups.
* Rockets splash range is the same in Q3 & QL, both 120u.
* Rocket splash damage is weaker in QL, scaling from 1dmg to 84dmg at the point of impact. Due to this, you only take 42dmg from a rocket jump in QL opposed to to 50dmg.
* Rockets direct damage is the same in Q3 & QL, both 100dmg.
* Rockets in QL deal 90% the amount of knockback they did in Q3, unless you are taking self-damage (rocket jumps) in which case they deal 110% the amount of knockback they did in Q3.
* Rockets rate of fire is the same in Q3 & QL, both 800ms.
* Rocketlaunchers still give 10 ammo on pickup and 5 ammo per box, however in QL you gain 10 ammo per pickup, regardless of whether you already have a RL or not.
* Rockets now have a max ammo in QL, so you are limited to 25 rockets instead of 200.
* You can alter the size of the rocket smoke trail with cg_smokeRadius_RL, or disable them entirely with the value of 0.
