I know it's off topic, but the very first demo I ever watched was your pov vs fatality on dm6tmp from razer cpl. At the time I did not know about strafejumping and whatnot and was blown away and thus quaking began for years to come.

Watching it years later I was significantly less impressed though. >8)

Unfortunately, I knew I was going to lose on both dm6 and dm13. Weakest maps for me heading into the tourney and I knew Fat had grinded them based on his previous performances in the tourney.

One of the reasons as to why i can still enjoy old demos, is how good they were at that time. People were still trying to figure out how to play quake at an optimal level , which is also what created all the different styles and interesting characters .

Kinda like ufc\pride, today they are all mma athletes with very little differences in skills, but in the beginning it was all cazy differences it had a real different enjoyment and vibe around it all .

Mystery and legends are born from lower average skill levels , where some people are really ahead of everyone else.

Which is why i think today that for QC to become more intruging, we need more profiling work of the people actually playing the game, who are they, what makes em tick , whats theyr story , rivalys etc. As they are all fairly close in skills and there are no one truly better then rest of the pack in QC at this moment.

I'm pretty sure I recognize the sense of urgency from Thorin and K9-makaveli with the demos as that anxiety of losing Quake 2 history touched me deep down in my gibs.
